  1. So would feeding a raw & kibble diet both, or do you have to stick with one of the other. Im thinking of going kibble and raw on certain days. Will this work or do I need to choose one and and stick with it

you have to feed 12 hours apart, raw digests faster than kibble so if you don't feed them 12 hours apart they can cause GI issues but other than that its fine

I use to feed a cup of dog food, and a quarter. I know - Its not the best on the digestion. Never had any problems. It seemed to actually help them pass a bit more easily.

  4. so I plan on feeding raw like once or twice a week in addition to kibble. like maybe some chicken backs or a leg, something with meat and bone. use the raw as a treat of some kind.

  5. Grain free Kibble is the best one and mostly recommended by doctors too. Dont go for Raw diet unless it is very light on the digestion.

Same here...fed like that for years...raw and kibble can mix and it is not unhealthy at all. GI issues can happen with any dog on any diet!

  8. I personally feed Acana grain free on a regular basis and depending what I can get and when I will feed raw as a treat. Turkey neck, chicken leg quarter, beef bone with some meat on it still. Works out good for my boy, but he has a tough stomach I've noticed.

Yuuup...same here, I've done it dif ways over the years kibble, full raw, & kibble n raw, I'd say for me kibble n raw works very well together, & that's coming from years of first hand trial, & error feeding experience!

I prefer to use a variety of bones, & meats...but if someone is concerned about time, & wants to keep it simple then try what someone on this thread already mention a leg quarter, & a cup of quality kibble as dogs will do very well on that!

must say...don't ask your vet about nutrition, they take on average 1 class in vet school, that is it and its normally run by a food rep, they know little to nothing about nutrition (unless your lucky and have a vet that studies it more than just in vet school which is very rare).

@jessewills only if the kibble you feed is bullshit.

Any kibble that bases its main ingredients on corn or grain is not good for your dog at all, it just is not in line with what a dog would eat in the natural environment AND the dogs metabolism is not designed to accommodate these substances at all. There are a number of dog food manufacturers manufacturing dry foods that are more in line with a dogs natural diet (see Orijen and Acana dog foods).

  20. Feeding both Raw and Kibble is like being on a super strict diet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday....but eating Fast Food Tueday, Thursday, and the weekends. Point is...the benefits and efforts of the proper diet is being negated by the other days of junk food. Either feed Raw, or feed kibble....but choose one.
