I know its not Game, but I love my dog anyway!

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by Kuntree_Swagger, May 12, 2008.

  1. I think that this issue of game or not game is kinda of pointless, since the only way to test gameness is illegal. So what if your pup has come from a good line of game dogs, does that make your pup game...its like saying since my father was a badass, im gonna be a bad ass....We will never know, so why do most of the mbrs here get caught up on that gameness aspect. Why do most mbrs here put another mbrs dog down when it has other bloodlines, like edge or gaff or york. I have seen so many posters call another dog a amstaff or say thats a good looking dog, but its not game....

I guess what im trying to say is....no matter what you call your dog, its still a dog...so get off your high horse. Because there is no way, u love your dog that much to test his or hers gameness....simple as that...now here is a new pic of my boy

Good golly, is there going to be a new thread every day bashing game dogs? This is gettin' ridiculous.....

  3. Im not bashing, im just saying, can u call your dog game...when it hasn't been tested....Its like a real gangster aisn't going to join a gangster site and talk about his illegal activities.....I guess...the old saying is true...throw a rock into a pack of wolves and the hit wolf will holler.

I must be the only on this forum i didnt read or cant remember to read someone calling their dogs "game".

Just love your dog, game or not and do not look at what the guy next to you says about his dogs!

I am pretty sure Gaff and York tend to be Amstaff bloodlines, not APBTs, but I'm not 100%. There are some really nice RE dogs, but most are not APBTs, they are American Bullies...
It has nothing to do with whether one person's dog is more game than another, because like you mentioned, the only way to prove it is illegal. It has with being an actual APBT, not an Amstaff or American Bully. I guess people just get sick of people mislabeling their dogs...

Also, talking about gamebred and talking about game are not the same thing. Just because someone has a gamebred dog doesn't mean they have tested it for gameness. It doesn't mean they do illegal activities. So, you have to watch. Is the person saying "my dog is game" or are they saying, "my dog is gamebred". Keep that in mind...

Nothing wrong with loving your dog no matter what breed it is, but don't represent it as something it's not. None of my dogs are gamebred (btw), and I own Amstaffs. (so I'm not bashing the breed, just saying call it what it is).

  7. If you have a dog with true bulldogblood there is always the chance that he is game as hell.....so you cant say: I know my dog isnt game....

Someone who calls a strange bulldog not game is not smart.

Gameness is it what makes ouer dogs noble...
From my point of view is the gameness of an average bulldog lightyears above the gameness of the most superior GSD.....

The point is only a few people are able to understand what gameness means.....
....and that is again and again the reason for idiotic discusions...

Nice pup how old is he? Something is telling me to keep my mouth shut but, I'm not goin to :D..... I think the reason some bloodlines get bashed is beacuause they are not pure and are being bred for size, collor ect. where the goal is MONEY. Were as the game lines are still being bred for proformance or comformation. They are true APBT. These other lines like RE and and other lines are all fads they are breeding for money and they are not pure bred dogs......... when members say a dog is or isn't game. It looks more to me like they mean "Game bred". That doesn't mean they tested there dog. unless they are breeding/ own catch dogs then they could mean that there dog is game. otherwise they are refering to there dogs liniage. wich in most cases is something to be proud of IMO. I can't wait till I get me some quality dogs of my own, with some big names on there ped. Niether of my dogs "Game bred", and are not registerd. And I don't care. THE PED DON'T MAKE THE DOG. I love my dogs thats all that matter to me. That should be all that matters to you too. If it did you would not have stared this thread. Don't get caught up in all that. as long as your pup loves you and you love it your good.

    VICTOR

Oh and my Grand father and Father were both BAD ASS and so am I!!! you see this face. that is my bad ass face....lol

The essence of the APBT is it's ability to endure through task at any and all costs. Of course if you own an APBT you want it to be a true representation of the breed you chose. If you chose an APBT you got a dog that should be game.... Now a days you can never know to the extent the old time doggers knew. It was only through cainine combat all deminsions of "game" were stressed, thus measurable by the actions of the dog. Today one must settle for the aspects of this trait (although limited) that can be observed in the activity of the dog which are socially acceptable.

To put no emphasis on the heart or "game" of the APBT is like saying I really want this German Short Haired Pointer..course he can't hunt worth a damn and he don't much look like a bird dog, but I really wanted this breed because, well I can say I own a bird dog.

I hope both my dogs - the APBT and the Am Staff have some of the stuff that made the APBT what it is today in them, and I accept the fact I will never know....and of course I will love them and care for them for the rest of their days. There is nothing wrong with wanting your dog to be what it should be IMHO.

BTW my boy is game bred......

Im getting sick of these threads.

This is a board that apperiates the history of the game dog and apart of that history was game testing. Like it or not.

This is a board that is suited to members who appericate that gameness sets this breed apart from other breeds Sure Other breeds can be game but the % of game dogs in this breed is higher than any other.

If you dont like the aspect of gameness Dont come spouting your bullcrap here !.

Love your dog, but respect what the breed really is- and admire those who are keeping the dogs true-to-form.

what the f*ck was the point of this thread? to try and stir the pot? you come on a site where it is dedicated to gamebred dogs and start talking mad shit. and you say people call amstaffs not game? i don't think anyone has done that. i would say they probably said it wasn't game bred. and do you have a ped for your dog or is he an amstaff and that's the real point of this friggin thread? i agree pipbull, this shit is getting old.

I have to agree w/ you on your saying Kuntree. A hit wolf will holler & it seems to me that you're hollering pretty loud.

There are legal ways to test gameness - hog hunting is a number one legal way & weight pulling is another. Now are they a TRUE test like the old way? Hog hunting can be sometimes, weight pulling not so much, but at least it is *some* kind of test instead of doing nothing & letting your dog sit on a chain & saying "well at least his great-grand-pappy was a champion!"

As for what members here call dogs, most folks here will call a spade a spade. If you have an AmStaff it will not be called an APBT. AmStaffs are called AmStaffs, American Bullies are called American Bullies & APBTs are called APBTs. I see nothing wrong w/ that.

As for your pup, I have to disagree w/ the poster who said he looked like a Great Dane mix (that was not a nice comment BTW) but I would check the background on that pup & his breeder pretty darn good. I assume this is the CKC pup you were referring to earlier & it appears you might have got your head skinned, as he looks more like an American Bulldog to me than an APBT. Either way, he's a pretty pup & good luck w/ him.

I am glad to hear you love your dog, heck I love all my dogs and pretty much everyone here does too. I know me personally I appreciate a dog that was bred with a working goal in mind and true to form when doing the breeding not because the dog was a pretty shade of blue or because it has a big ass head.

So when you see people showing off pedigrees of thier dog it is to show the other fanciers of the breed that thier dog has a working ability in its genetics and was bred for all the right reasons and being a true representation of what the breed is suppose to be and not just some BYB "lets make a quick buck" bred dog.

Thats one of the biggest problems today with our breed, you have way too many blind leading the blind breedings going on with absolutely zero goal intended beside making quick cash. If we had more well bred dogs than the BYB ones I honestly feel the breed would be in a much better state than it currently is.

The more you know about your dog and where it came from shows me that you have more of an understanding of what the breed is and you are better prepared to care for it because you have taken the time to get educated as to what you own. I am not saying that if you know nothing about your dog your a bad owner, just that your probably not going to be as good as the person who does. JMHO

well i understand why you feel the way you feel about the game-bred apbt, you don't own one, these dogs have big hearts and awesome spirits that many of us here have experienced and can appreciate, while others will open their mouths about things they know nothing about, it's like the ugly kid saying "what's so great about having good looks" well i guess you don't know if you ain't got 'em. regardless your dog is beautiful and maybe someday someone will open a sight called cur-dog.com where your opinions and comments about the worthlessness of a game dog's lineage might be welcome, it won't happen here ;) and i LOVE my game-bred doggies!!!!
