Canada's problems??? We have 44 million AMERICANS without health care. The man that runs this site talked about it in a post yesterday. What is he going to do? many AMERICANS go to Canada to get perscription drugs because they are too exspensive here. The US is one of a very few country (civilized countries) where all of there citizens do have health care. The plan that he is talkin about is not mandatory National Health Care either it is a option so that the other major insurance companies will be forced to drive there cost down. All that other stuff is rhetoric

How about all of the Canadians that come here because they can't get healthcare? Because of the fact that it is nationalized, there are way too many people getting treatment when they don't even need it. There is way too much demand for the supply. It is at a point where the government picks and chooses who gets to have health care. I was talking to a man the other day at the airport who says he is not getting any treatment because the Canadian government feels that there are other people who need it more than him. He is scared that he will die before being treated.

Yes, the proposed healthcare says that you don't have to have the nationalized health care. However, this does not prevent the huge increase in demand that will occur. If you know anything about supply and demand you would know that a huge increase in demand with small supply drives up costs significantly. This will make healthcare unaffordable to those who don't have nationalized health care and therefore be forced into it. This will further increase the problem.

You forgot the part where our health care was spot on, until the government stepped in to "help" with prices instituting HMOs. What happened then? I'll go ahead and tell you. Prices went UP, because no longer were patients paying for it, but a 3rd party. Doctors and insurance found out about this and upped prices knowing that they would get paid for whatever they asked. So, in essence, government got their foot in the door and messed it up and now we're supposed to let them barge in to fix a problem they created? Laughable. "The government will fix the problem until it's broken."

I also find it quite amusing that over the past year we had to hear about how great Obama is and will be when he wasn't even the president-elect, let alone the president. But now that he's in office we CANNOT criticize anything about the man. Not even his ideas we don't like. lol... am I the only one who finds the absurdity in this?

I'm pulling for the guy to prove me wrong. I'm hoping he's not as radical as the platform he ran on. If he succeeds, we succeed. But I'm keeping my eye on him....

I definitely find it absurd. It seems that they reason get mad and say "you shouldn't talk bad about him. He is our president and you should stick behind him" is because they can't find a valid argument against the points his opposition presents. Unsurprisingly, quite often, these same people were guilty of criticizing bush to no end.

No, if he succeeds w/ what he wants to do, we loose.

Smokin hemi, if you agree with the above quote, meaning that you want more gov. programs and the gov. to solve our problems, then we wouldnt have to argue anymore. Because i would see why you feel the way you do about Obama. You are the one sucking on the gov. tit.

And of course i feel bad for marty. i'd send him money right now if i had some to spare, but why should i be MADE to help pay for his health care? maybe if there weren't so many taxes, more people would donate to his cause voluntarily. Less government is better for the people (us, you and me). Thats the way the founding fathers designed and wanted it. Obama is trying to change all that and that is why i resent the man. What ever happened to responsibility?

Great point. Also, as I mentioned before, nationalized health care may seem like a good idea but when demand supersedes supply, the government will step in and tell many people who need treatment that they will have to go to the back of the line because there are other people that need the treatment more than them. Take for example, because of the high demand opposed to supply, the government will say to the person with cancer who never smoked can get treatment instead of the next man simply because that man admitted to smoking in the past. Sure, socialized health care sounds good but it doesn't work.

It leads to more government control. I'm sorry. I don't want my rates to get up so high that I am forced into socialized health care because of the demand increases only to be told by the government that I can't get treatment anymore or that I have to wait for years. Under the free market, I should be able to pay for my health care and have the opportunity to get treated when I want.

Indeed! What works (if you can call it that) in a country with a population of 33 million (Canada) WILL NOT WORK in a Country of 309 million...

Tommy, doesnt all this free stuff sound amazing? i mean think about it, free housing, free health care, free food, you'd be crazy not to want that. But nothing in life is free. Once we are all dependent on the government, they can do w/ us as they wish. Just as easily as they can give you all that they can take it all away.

Obama stated during his campaign that he believed the Constitution needed to be "updated" to fit our current time and that some of its precepts were outdated. Given his past statements regarding his opinion on the alleged archaic nature of our Constitution, coupled with his continued effort to call the Consititution and the Declaration of Independence "flawed political documents", I do have to wonder what his general attitude is toward those principals upon which our Country was founded and how that will affect his future policies.

You can learn a lot from history:

I just wanted to mention that I made that post regarding the spending of your tax dollars on items that does not stimulate the economy in order to open some eyes. There is not a single piece of direct stimulus in this plan. The money is either going to indirect stimulus or into items that will not help the economy in any fashion at all.

On a separate note, more proof that the current mess we are in is not all Bush's fault as everyone wants to blame.

I want to state that the reason that the housing market crashed which resulted in the first bailout was directly reflected by the government stepping in and forcing the housing industry to provide housing for those that couldn't afford it. Also, these companies (Fannie and Freddie Mac) were directly linked to many of the Democratic big dogs. If I remember correctly, Barney Frank's boyfriend was one of the top executives of one of these companies. Years ago Republicans (including John McCain) warned about the corruption of these companies and that they would lead to the downfall of the housing industry. Yet, The Democrats Pelosi, Frank, and Reid lied through their teeth about the stability of these organizations to protect their own self interests. Now, we are currently in this mess.

People act like he doesn't want to take people's guns but by the time Obama gets finished,my kid won't be able to get a water gun.I hope he helps the economy but I really disagree with everything this man is about.Has nothing to do with his skin color either,I'd dislike him if he was white as snow.

Ain't gonna happen. It didn't work with FDR's New Deal and it won't work now. Has anyone seen this "pork"-ulus bill that's getting passed? I'm glad that no Republican backed it.

I said I hoped he helped it,but I don't believe for one minute that he will. It's just wishful thinking.I voted for McCain/Palin all the way. It's just I have to be careful what I say since it's so easy for people to think someone's being a racist,[I'm not]and I don't want banned from the forum. It seems to me if someone is for McCain people say it's because Obama is black, but I see all these people on TV that's so happy a black man was elected they're crying and stuff. Now are they going to tell me what reason they voted for Obama.I don't disagree with him because he's black,I disagree with him because he don't believe the way I do.And before I get in trouble here,I'm not going to say no more.

take my guns...i wish a mf'er would:mad: Obama aint got the nerve to pass a ban that includes most guns made. I wouldnt be suprised if a aw ban is passed though. People dont understand that ar15 are one of the most useful gun around all they see is a scary looking gun and think it should be banned.

I agree 100% AR15 is one of the most versatile guns a guy can have. They can be accurate,so you can target shoot or varmint hunt, you can take deer with one[not perfect deer medicine but if you pick you shots they work good]You can change calibers just by changing the upper, low recoil so a kid or small woman can use it to hunt with, and if they bad guys come knocking it'll do for that too. It'll be a shame to ban the AR15[or any gun for that matter]People need to learn that if someone is going to break the law and kill someone that something like possessing a gun on the ban list isn't going to stop them.People have been killing forever and a AW ban isn't going to stop it.If anything a criminal is more apt to attack someone they believe to be unarmed.
