Stafford and Pitbull

Discussion in 'Staffordshire Bull Terriers' started by matty, Mar 6, 2010.

  1. These dogs came out of England long ago. Americans kept breeding them for what they were meant for, so they improved them. Then maintained them. Whilst they turned to muck in the hands of showmen and wannabees over here. What else is there to believe?

i'd agree that england wrecked it's bull-terriers, but how can you say that the american's improved them?

like you said it was a long time ago and matching was legal and profitable at one point in england, not saying the american's didnt improve the breed but what do you base it on (other than opinion)?

  3. It is based on the opinion that breeding the best dogs to the best bitches moves a breed forward.

As if every pitbull is a good dog. There are plenty not worth feeding, same as staffordshire bull terriers. There are way more pitbulls on the planet so it's only logical that there are more good ones. Also in country's were the laws aren't that strict.

couldnt agree more the percentages of good pitbulls is higher , but there are and will always be very good staffords around albeit in relativly small numbers maintained by true dogmen

  6. By that rationale there would be more good staffs in England than there are pitbulls, as they are enormously popular here. But that is a mile off.

More SBTs as pets but way more APBTs being worked and bred to work. Obviously there will be more quality APBTs because more people are breeding for working ability in APBTs.

Theres not that many quality genuine lines aswell compared to the apbt;)

  10. Exactly, which is why the staff is no longer worth its weight in shite.

You need to search better. The pitbull owners are show offs, a good sbt is hard to find because they are kept a secret.

not sure about the secret bit but the real staffords are kept closer to the chest now, a bit more like the old days how it should be ,and its much the same with real pitbulls over ere good ones hard to find if you ent in the know, the rest not worth feedingh:cool:

I agree, from the two pics provided, the staffy is clearly stockier and looks shorter. The staffy also appears to be a stronger dog but chinaman definitely has more wind. It is like Frazier Ali LOL.

  14. No I'm not searching for a staff at all lol. Truth is if i had a quid for every "good" staff ive been told about that turned out to be dirt i'd be a rich man. I buried a two and half year old bitch last year that was meant to be bred off the real deal, works heavy game etc; turned out to be a machine for turning good food into shit. Secret dogs ffs.

  15. Keeping it in closed circles is exactly how it should be, difference is in the old days stuff was being kept amongst genuine digging men only, never sold on to divs and pretenders for profit. Nowadays its kept close cause digging is so hot. Your seen walking across a field with a spade and a terrier in this country and your "badger baiting". You've got untold numbers of idiots breeding off of unproven dogs, no, off dogs that havn't even been shown an earth, have never even had a locator round their neck, because their owners are complete messers. Lads with "game" dogs that in reality are as clean as a whistle, not a mark on them! I don't know where this is going i'm just ranting now, and this isn't even the earth dog section lol.

theirs only one reason "diggers" would have staffords.......................and they aint real diggers!!!!
as for the idea that REAL staffords are some closly kept secret , what a joke!!!!!wake up people!!!!........their is no secret strains out their..............in over twenty years the best staffords ive ever seen had pit bull bred into them FACT!!!!.............im not talking about pit bull crosses , im talking about small time doggers who have bred pit bull into their line of dogs ,....real pitbulls .....not red nosed corner shop knock offs. bull terriers of the highest quality did wonders for the the staffords and the lurchers in this country.....find the people and you will find the dogs ,,simple.

yes , you are correct, respect where its due........and after 70 odd years of show breeding their are Stafford's which will give any pit bull all he wants.....and then some......but these are bull terriers, and the best bull terriers are of the American breeding , not of English breeding, and i repeat no one out their from stockade to spar pit, from socalled secretive breeders to socalled working staffords, or from small time dogger to dungaree wearing Irish men standding in a peat bog is breeding staffordshire BULL TERRIERS of the the quality of American BULL TERRIERS........and it pains me to say such truths!!!!!...........the best Stafford's have the best bull terrier blood infused ,.........which is american pit bull blood !!!!.....and no one can blame the kennel club for that!!!!!
