Is it possible for some good old school stock, that can steal compete with today's fastlane bull dogs. Whats your thoughts on this one?

I personally dont think so. The Vigor has been Bred out of it.
    Thats just my Opinion.
    It will need an Out

a bulldog can compete no matter what era it's in."The Vigor has been Bred out" LOL BOOGIEMAN why does it need a "out" to get it's vigor back?

  4. Old school. I will take a old time game bred dog over a fastlane "mouth bred" dog of today anytime. I want something that can compete and show what it is made of opposed to something that barnstorms 3...

So you are saying that a deep game old school bred bulldog cant compete with todays pitdogs? why because of mouth ability, better smarts i don't understand really:confused:

Game is game no matter wat date is on it ...2010 or 1976

  8. WHat I'm saying is that the dogs of yesteryear where bred strickly for gameness. The dogs of today are bred more for mouth. The gameness is what sets this breed apart from any other.

Example, A dog has an extremely hard mouth. Goes out and hunts and wins three all in under an hour. This is now considered an ace and the stud fee is set. WHat has that hard mouth dog really proven? Was he ever on the bottom and worked his way to the top? Was he ever stressed to the limit? Probably not..

Years back the dogs where "tested" alot harder. They had to be something special to make it to a hunt. Nowadays, it is not the same.

A good Bulldog is a good Bulldog no matter what era. Would Zebo,Art,Pit General have a chance? You bet they would have better then a chance. I don't question stuff like that. Those dogs have stood the test of time. I have a question how would the dogs of today do against the old greats?

  10. There will always be freeks. There will be many that go against the statements that I made in my previous post. I just think that years back, the dogs where tested much harder. They where rolled day and night and then rolled again. It was a different time and place.

maybe its not the same from the guys you know and the people around your area. But for a lot of people game is still what they breed for regardless of what they do to confirm it.;)

yes for real doggers gameness is #1 priority plain and simple!!

  13. Fair enough. I go back a ways and in my area it has gotten very hard to be a dog person. I'm not saying that the people in my area don't breed for gameness. I'm just saying that it was much different back then.

I think nowadays it is more common to see a champion with a freekish mouth bred. Then we know what happens. The stud fee is high and the pups are through the roof as well. When it comes time to earn there keep, they turn out to be nothing. I'm not saying that this didn't happen in the old school days. I just think the percentages are much higher of this happening now.

Its going to be hard to consistently win with a line that hasn't been active in a while but it isn't as black/white that every dog from line a will be a dog from line b.

As for the dogs of old being better than the dogs of today, I can't ever wrap my head around the statement. To say that all the dogs today are rough, hard mouthed dogs that aren't properly tested would be admitting that this is what you or the men you get your dogs from breed for. How do you know that a hard mouth dog that doesn't go past :45 wasn't tested and shown worthy in his backyard?

The people you get your dogs from should be breeding complete dogs. If not then you're part of the problem so sit down and stop whining about the dogs being crap. Everyone thinks that their old days were the "good ol" ones

I'm not understanding the post... the reasoning behind it or what is trying to be said... we all know how it was and how it is now so obviously it ain't the same.and not all dogs are all mouth just like they weren't all mouth.... there are always eras where it was popular to breed for mouth and then that era would pass and the same thing that was always for would be bred for again. because gameness stands the test of time, in the [] and in years.

Test hard, Cull hard, Go hard.

You guys need to read the Post he said nothing about 1976 or dogs from the past or dogs from yesteryear he said Old School Blood Line
You bring out some old inbred sorrells or some of that old school Mayfield/Kershner and please bring that old family rednose stuff out I dream of guys coming with this blood if you do I Got a Great Grandson off Baracuda that will Ice that inbred slow starting junk plain in simple the old inbred stuff dont belong in the fast lane.
So Gamedogs arnt in the Fastlane? I saw one from SK going in shock stumbling against another Big Mouth Eli who never stopped and gave a coutesy after an hour an half. And it dont get more Fast Lane then these Two kennels Plain and simple dont trash the fast lane because you cant compete. Just because were all around good dont say we aint game. Fast Lane aint just looking for Game they Need Ability Mouth and Gameness, Because the Stiffer the Comp the better the Handlers and the Longer your there for the night

  17. Look. I don't need to defend my point of view to you. As far as the dogs that I used to be involved in, they where complete bull dogs. They where down from tested stock and culled hard. Like I've said before, I've been out of the game for a while. For me, the old days where the days.

I really don't think my love for the complete bull dog is part of the problem. I think the problem is in the thinking that a hard mouth dog that is rolled in someones back yard, and then matched against back yard comp deserves the title of a champion. That is what happens more so then not today.
