    Hi upthefoyle
I'm glad you knew Sean, me & him knew eachother from childhood, both our parents were best friends so our family and the Casey family were like cousins, My Prince dog was possibly one of the first staffords sean ever owned, and as you perfectly stated no one could condition a dog like sean because he was in the hight of his career and actually ran the dogs with him on the roads, I met him with Prince out running, i hadn't seen the dog for ages at this point and i bent over and petted him, I never felt an animal so hard, it was unreal, i could squeeze on him and there was no give, the dog was like concrete, hard as a rock, if you knew Sean back then you'd remember shortly after Prince was put down Sean got a massive Stafford called "Hagler" from WM, WM told me Hagler was the only dog he ever knew that would make a badger scream one on one, on an outting with Sean Hagler got badly banged up and Sean was unsure if he wanted to bring him home and try to save him or chance taking him to the vet, and one of his brothers saved him having to decide by ending the dog on site which happened fast and unexpected,(you'll know how) Sean told me that himself and he was actually very emotional about it as he really loved the big Hagler dog also.
You're right about Sean being a tough character, he was leathal for his size, his personality was great, he always made me laugh.

lol, you should learn to wait a day before replying, go back and read the comments left by others who knew the Man who is now dead, then take a deep gulp and swallow your words.

    Hi JT
I just replied to "upthefoyle" who you directed to this comment you made, I'm nice to know others on here know Sean, 12gauge made a comment saying > one good dog and a dead man who can't verify what i said, or words to that effect, at least people like you can verify who Sean was and as i replied to upthefoyle, Sean dogs were all exceptionally conditioned because how many others who owned working dogs were professional boxers in the hight of their career? who ran the dogs on the roads with him whilte training and lived close enough the the river foyle where he'd have the dogs swimming while carrying a big log in their mouth etc?
Sean bought Prince from me around 1987, after he had to be put down with the broken back he may have had another but he definately bought "Hagler" from WM, the same WM who recon'd it would've taken a pitbull much bigger to beat the Prince dog, it may be possible if you knew Sean back then you'll also know who WM is but I don't want to name the man here.
I'm curious if me & you know eachother because of somthing else you said here.
Sean will be badly missed, he was a firey guy who would've faced anyone but he was a real witty character, i loved running into him and catching up, he was crazy in the best possible way.

    Hi Herodog1
I just saw your comment, I like that black bitch, it's good to hear your opinion also, thanks for replying.
    Good luck

    Hi Ricky
He died just a couple of months ago, took a fall at home & struck his head, it was very sad for his family, Sean has a few children from in their 20s down to mid teens, one of his lads got involved in the boxing also and did very well, don't know if he's still involved, Sean will be missed by many, a real character.

The proof of what i just said is in the photo, "The Camera Never Lies"?? I know why the thread is called "today's staffords are a shame" but we are debating the black bitch in the photo you commented on, no some others.
You know > if me and you were standing together looking at dogs in a show or whatever, we'd be able to say "I like that one" or "I think that one's a bit short" and we wouldn't agree on somethings and maybe would agree on others, but we'd likely be standing having a civil discussion and an odd laugh and a joke, the problem on these forums is>> you can't see a smile, or a frown, you can't hear a laugh or pick up on a little light hearted sarcasim so it often seems like there's malice attached to the words we type here when really we are just expressing opinions which won't always be the same.
Just so you know, I may not agree with everything you say as you may not with me, but no offense intended, (just so you know) & I still like that black bitch hehehe

and I respect your opinion but still dont agree that bitch could keep up with too much work of any kind if tested hard.

no i wont swallow anything, yes they knew the deceased but never heard of the dog being what you claimed he's been. two different things pal. and my main argument it isnt the dog alone, he might as well had been an ace to you and your circle, but one dog in 30 years to be recognized in anything?
i hope in the most high i could be remember 30 years from now for more than that.

and for the record, i may not like your taste but i still admire people fighting for this breed i love so much, and with that said this debate doesnt mean we could never sit down and have couple of cold ones and bbq after a day of work with our dogs. its all about them dogs isnt it?

Well considering she's been used for showing I'd have to agree with you, but with some conditioning to improve her fitness her chances would improve quiet a bit, it would then remain to be seen if she got a liking for work, I've seen unknown dogs take to it very well in the past, i've seen some usless ones also, as I'm sure you have.

lol, you know of Toby?? yes he was a Big bruiser and his owners often sang his praises, BUT he'd been allowed to shake ordinary breeds and was never in a physically fit condition.
His owners asked Sean about rolling him with Prince, Sean told me this>> The roll was arranged for the weekend but somthing came up and Sean called at Toby's house to knock the roll back a day or two, (he had prince with him) Sean eas invited in and Toby's owner suggested bringing Toby into the kitchen to see the dogs reaction (rather foolish) so showed a lack of experience? Anyway> Sean's holding prince and they bring toby in, she's a huge dog compared to prince but a bit of a porker, they let toby run at prince and Sean scooped prince up, then said, if you do that again i'll let him go, so they faced them again holding them and toby's owner let him go again and Sean just released prince.
Prince lept into the air and came down right on top of toby getting a good mouthfull of the top of toby's head, (Prince was ferocious at shaking) he's use his whole body from this nose to the tip of his tail with brutal force, plus Sean had him fit as a fiddle, Anyway, Prince shook the big Toby dog to hard Sean recon'd he left him dizzy, he was smaller yet lifted the bigger dog off his feet when shaking him, they wrecked the kitchen, things flying everywhere, then Sean managed to get Prince to let him go and left their house, He said the roll he went there to re-arrange was never mentioned again by Toby's owners, NEVER, lol, Sean made me laugh telling me, I could picture the things flying around the kitchen and the look of their faces when big Toby was getting mangled by Prince.

I think the red dog im talking about may very well have had his name changed and was actually the first dog his owner had success with, he was leggy and very athletic and could've passed off as a smallish pitbull no problem.
Also, the problem isn't that I couldn't name a few more I had that could do the business because I could, the issue was ME, I bought and owned a few hardy dogs and I bred a couple of littlers only over the year, I was accepted and trusted by men who were into the darkest of the dark side of it and those who showed them because I never talked.
I never judged also, I fought that red dog only once myself, there were only a few hand picked men there to see it and until now I've only told my nephew because I don't want him getting into it, if he does at least nothing crazy, I fought the red dog and well into the fight he had the other dog opened up everywhere, it was in no fit state to continue and I wanted to stop the fight, His owner sickened me by saying let him kill him, i don't want to take him home anyway.
I chocked my dog off which pissed them off, i then put my own dog into the boot of my car and wrapped their dog in an old coat and placed him in the back of the car and took him with me, I lied to an aunt & uncle who had an enclosed private yard up the street from me, i told them i found it hit by a car, they let me keep him in their shed where I cleaned and patached him up, and went everyday and changed his dressings and fed him until he recovered then i gave him to an old guy i knew as a pet where he was kept until old age took him.
I've never kept a dog that wasn't good (up for it) but the majority that I kept were dogs I bought from guys who fought them, another hard dog i had was a stafford EBT cross, again already won a few but once bought by me he wasn't fought, I love them, I wouldn't keep one that was an embarrassment but I personally can't intentionally put them into harms way, even if their winning i get guilty about the other dog, So I don't judge, i like them for what they are supposed to be and I wouldn't keep a show dog, this is why I'm known and trusted by both sides of stafford owners, they all know I've been keeping them years, the show types don't know my past escapades and the working guy's know where I stand with them, often I got dogs from them and vice versa.

He'll be missed, do you have any of the Prince dog or Hagler? hagler was a big Stafford, Dark Fawn/Red? I only have a couple of prince i scanned from photos, no digital in those days. if any of them are Red's it could be prince, I don't think Sean had many red dogs, especially back then
