    Pictures taken today show that traditional Afghanistan dog fighting is bigger than ever since the United States decided to liberate Afghanistan from the Taliban. Prizes for winning dogs can reach into the tens of thousands of dollars, which is a fortune in this impoverished country.

    Afghans men tend to brag that fighting is in their blood, so dog fighting has been a natural tradition for centuries. It's an ancient tradition that has become a cultural trend once allowed to flourish by the USA. Only the Taliban could stop this sport, but now that the United States government has devoted billions of our tax dollars to freeing the Afghani people, dog fighting is again flourishing.

    The Taliban had banned and virtually eliminated dog fighting during their regime. Afghanis were able to continue their love of fighting using cocks, rams, goats, camels and kites. Now, however, they are back to using their dogs.

    The sport has even experienced resurgence in the south, where the influence of the Taliban remains strongest. Crowds of men are, however, somewhat smaller since last year when a suicide bomber detonated himself and killed about eighty spectators at a dog fighting match.

    There are two tournaments every week in Kabul, and both are held on Friday, the day of prayer. Like most sports and sporting events in Afghanistan, attendance and participation is the dominion of men. Perhaps the US sports’ hero Michael Vick should get himself a home in Kabul.

    It seems ironic that the government of “we the people” would lock Vick up for the same activity that we are using billions of dollars and the lives of our citizens to uphold in Afghanistan. Wouldn’t that money be better used for “livingry” such as building schools, paying teachers well, housing and feeding those who are homeless and starving and maintaining our failing US infrastructure?

    May we all soon discover the common sense to stop the fighting among all sentient beings and devote our abundant resources to that which sustains life rather than that which destroys life.

    i knew they had a dog bred for fighting however i never thought they would be so large. with the excessive heat i would have thought they would have been a small dog.

    Kangals, right?
    I know In Iraq they use similar dogs...those bastards were huge and pretty scary looking. we rescued a black one that was left in a cage for 6 days in apprx 115degree heat (no shade) after we took over an area. That dog wanted us dead but eventually came around and was a decent alarm dog...thew next unit was ordered to put him down.

    Also they do their dogs over there like a battle in groups. The winner must cur out more dogs then their opponent

    Yeah we haVE A LOT OF BACKWARD LAW MADE HERE IN THE STATES. One thing ppl say is that they do not have say in being in the ring but i say bs the wall is not tall at all and if the said dogs chooses to run over and box it then he chose and when he wants to let you know when he is done he will jump out! yeah he cant talk hes a animal but body gestures will let a person know so take that to the bank... he just told ya hes done.;)

    It's good to know that the money I'm paying because it's illegal to fight dogs here is going to help people in another country retain their ability to fight dogs. Go figure!

    If they ever outlaw boxing or mma I'm heading south. I think they won't though cuz all those humaniac treehuggin rainbow chasers love for us "neanderthals" to destroy each other.

    I respect all combatative breeds, be it the ovtscharkas, bully kuttas, tosas, kangals, etc. I respect all dogs that have earned their mettle and have lost in honor. However, the apbt reigns supreme.

    btw the dog breed used by afghans is a form of caucasian ovcharka called the "Kuchi". beautiful dogs imo, i'd love to own one one day
