Ive seen video of an Ovchartka killing a pit.
Took him about 18 minutes. Fought on open ground in the snow, looked brutally cold.
Its a legal sport in Russia, with commentators, spectators and bookies.
Usually a dog turns and its stopped, sometimes a smaller dog will get killed.
The Ov had to be from 160-175#
It was huge, its fur was like that of a bear. Pit just got mauled.

The Afganis keep them too, but they are not true Russians Ovcharka.

  2. those Ovtcharka's are pretty full on. I've got a video from Russia with a lot of different breeds being matched & the Ovtcharkas win over the pit bulls, but these bulldogs are all rank curs, and most don't even want to mix it up.

I'd be surprised if a dog two maybe three times bigger than its oppenent, did'nt do the smaller dog serious damage and in some instances kill it. Bulldogs are not invincible in any shape or form, yet lb for lb they are the best at what they do and have been doing for centuries.I cannot see why anyone would want to match dogs where one is twice the size of the other wheres the sport in that :(

Yep, I've seen many videos of other breeds killing an apbt as well. However, for everyone video I've seen of another breeding beating an apbt, I can and have found three times as many vids of the apbt beating that very same type of dog. This is why I admire all combat dogs, and will never trash or degrade any particular breed by calling them curs. However, for every one good kangal, ovtscharka, etc. there are 10 good apbts. Percentage wise, apbts are the best due to a combination of strength, intelligence, and gameness. Most of the matches where an apbt goes against a dog two to three times its size, you see the intelligence of the apbt. They go for an ear and while the bigger, more cumbersome dog attempts to finish and kill quickly. These big dogs lack the intelligence of the bulldog and are all barn stormers. After the 30 min. mark if they haven't done any considerable to the much faster and nimble bulldog, it is over for them. Btw, there is a reason why even in afghanistan, russia, etc. the apbt, staffordshire bull terrier, english bull terrier, and mixes involving these dogs, normally with their local champion dogs, are the favorite dogs. I know in afghanistan, the apbt ovtscharkas crosses are very popular, and this cross when done right can incapacitate an ovtscharka and apbt.

I havent seen anything you describe and I have seen 100s of matches on Russian Video.

Generally, the larger Ovchartkas get spent after 18-20 minutes.
    Thats it.

But If they dont tire, they win...usualyl kill the much smaller pit who they outweigh by 3:1 if not more. These dogs are huge.
I think the colder weather helps them also and to their advantage.
Many fight for a submit not a Kill, Ive seen a few pits submit.

Generally the pits cant hurt them in any way, theyre too big and furry.
Maybe a leg hold but thats about it.
I wont link the videos as I dont want idiots to have access to it.
Enough of them running around today.

Isn't that what I just described within my post? Could you clarify on what you haven't seen within the matches that you witnessed in my post? As stated, I said that the apbts are smart and normally they get an ear hold and they attempt not to go to the bottom. After 30 mins. if the big dog doesn't kill the apbt, it is over for them. The big dogs are spent at that point and the apbt does damage. Also I don't doubt your words, there's no need to link them. However, what I've described is generally how the fights that I've watched played out. But then again, they weren't all central asian ovtscharkas and weren't all on russian ground. Though I believe that the 30 min. mark is what most caucasian ovtscharkas, central asian ovtscharkas, kangals, etc. can go as I have not seen one go longer than that.

The difference in the two posts, you're saying once one is spent... he's done and the apbt wins. The other guy is sayin they are big and tire easy but the other dog cant hurt them easy cuz of the size and fur.

You'd be surprised at what a catchweight apbt can do to these guys. Granted, even then I wouldn't say it was an easy task for the bulldog, but trust me, they can and have gotten it done before. Statistically speaking, in these matches, the apbt's chances of winning are still higher than the other dogs, despite the size handicap. There have been many a volkodav that has defeated an apbt, and I'd wager that most if not all have been reported since every country has their "champion" and believes them to be the best, and our breed of choice is widely considered to be the best. However, there has also been just as many matches reported where our breed has bested these dogs despite the size handicap, and I'd wager that there are many more that haven't been reported since they want the world to recognize their breed is the best combat breed.

Im not denying what your saying, but it all seems very rare. How a bulldog of 45-65lbs wont get quickly mauled by a dog that outweighs it 2-3 times. Theres no point in really arguing it, since the apbt is the best dog for what its made to do. But there has to be a limit. just like in mixed martial arts, if you look, most the best fighter are in the lightweight, welterweight, and middleweight class. Not light heavy and heavy. But you wouldnt expect them to beat a heavyweight.

what you say is true IN THEORY watch a couple of video's and you'll see otherwise, and imo they are not exceptional/rare because the countries theyre shot in would want to champion their own breed.

im pissed i forgot to mention that. I do realize these videos are shot in countries like russia and afghanastan when they want to make their breed look good, i do realize that. Along with the fact that they prob have run of the mill pitbulls competing. But if what you guys are saying is true and isnt as rare as i believe it is, than its sad that 200lb dogs are getting beat by dogs literally 1/4 their size. Thats like me getting my ass handed to me by a 10 year old.

seen a 60 pound apbt against a ovartchka and after about 8 minutes the ovartchka got gassed and started tucking tail..... the apbthad em on the ground and was like rat bitiing eating that dog ........ pretty bad damage was done... the match should of been called .... it was a tournament... but regaurdless i find those matches with those big dogs to be quiet boring .. after someminutes they look for submit and wont fight or give it their all.... that would really frustrate me.....apbt king of combat

Simple question, would you be worried about one of your dogs getting into it with a rottweiler, dogo argentino, bandog, presa, american bulldog?

Ive seen these dogs fight well over 20 minutes and looking fresh, it was outside and cold.
If well conditioned, they dont gas in 6 minutes, thats nonsense.
I just watched a smaller pit get killed by one.
Doesnt happen often, but it happens...usually the bigger dogs gets hot and turns and curs
Pit has little to grab onto ever

    Not really

These dogs are livestock guardians that are fought.

They are not fight dogs, bred for gameness.

POUND FOR POUNND. THE APBT IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST AND ONLY TRUE GAMEBRED COMBAT DOG!! Aint a breed that ranges in the 20-70 pound range that can do fuckall to a true bulldog. Aint a breed smaller nor biger with more heart.

Actually, a good fighter is where you find him. Also the matches isn't rare at all, you actually have an easier time finding one of these big dogs losing to an apbt than the other way around, trust me. It took me a while to find videos of an apbt losing to a breed that isn't an apbt, and this was on an overseas CAO board. It took those guys several days before they can find me footage of their breed winning. Their type of breed is just too cumbersome. They make great live stock guardians though, no question that when it comes to guarding a flock of sheep, these dogs are great as they are naturally suspicious and will attack anything they don't know, this includes humans and animals. However, in the pit, these guys more often than not, falls.
