dogs on chains.

nothin wrong with chain setups..we use them on bulldogs,hounds..everything prettymuch..I know a oldtimer that even uses them for horses.

 

It sure is safer.l had built some damm good kennels and the first thing I hated.w
as didn't spend as much time with them seeing as there in fence .as the ones in the open and one ate a 4:-4 and died

 

Bottom line is every day I see ads on (craigslist) and different places with people bashing bulldog owners for having pictures of dogs on chains, saying it's cruelty to animals BLA, BLA, BLA. I have had real bulldogs my entire life and my father before me. Game dogs are not poodles or rat terriers or any other breed for that matter they are and alway's have been a specialty breed with a specific purpose. these bleeding hearted tree hugging liberals get involved in things they don't understand and when they get done putting there twist on things we are all sick irresponsible dog owners. Don't tell me how to keep a dog secure and then hold my feet to the fire when your weak minded bullshit blows up and an accident happens. Just like when these know all geniuses tell us how to raise our kids these days, Look around you and be honest this generation is full of useless no working leeches who set up in the A/C that we pay for and come up with more B/S that we are doing wrong.

 

I don't have dogs on chain spots, but will consider doing so if I have more dogs and live where it's not prohibited.

However, just for the sake of thinking this through, kennels would seem to have at least one advantage. If you have dogs on chainspots, and you go to retrieve your dog to take him for a walk, if you lose hold of him, he could run over to another dog. If you have kennels, that would be less likely.

 

That's why you hook your leash to the dog and hold the leash before you unhook his chain. Its common sense.

 

I have the collar through the o ring souldog, so that wouldn't be possible. I have only had one get away from me and I was tired and loading dogs to take to an adba show and he slipped away and ran across the street to my neighbor. I have had several dogs and have always used chain spots and they are the safest way to contain these dogs. I know a guy that has had multiple problems with the crate and rotate method and has had zero accidents involving his chain set ups.

 

If the chain is fixed to the o-ring and the collar is through it which sounds like your case just put another collar on with leash attached then take the other one off

 

Kennels arent bad if you get the proper kennel. Another advantage is if one ever gets out it would have to get through another or more before a kennel accident and that is not likely.

 

all the dog has to do is get out and grab the nose of the dog in the next kennel .

 

If it can grab the nose of another dog then it's not the proper kennel. I realize cost is always a factor but if you got the funds it's easily preventable.

 

give me a good strong chain anyday----- easy to set up, easy to maintain, cheaper, safer, easier to clean than a kennel, roomier and the list could go on..... as you can tell i much rather chain set ups

 

I don't think anyone is trying to irritate anyone here, they are just trying to help and point out facts, chain spots are a great tool to help house most working dog breeds and allows them to get plenty of exercise while on the chain. I think is the most efficient and economical way to keep a bulldog I wouldn't keep them housed any other way.

 

I haven't heard anyone mention that the American pitbull terrier has been on chains for HUNDREDS of years!! Humm wonder why???? I think if you are a smart owner you need to us the chain spot! I use it for all kind of different things! I'm not going to elaborate you can figure it out!

 

You would not be very smart to chain a dog where it's not allowed now would it. You do what works for you.

 

I would love to be able to chain out but where I live we have a no tether law unless you are out with the dog. So I use custom pens that I have come up with in many different sizes and construction material. I am always thinking of ways to better them for ease of everything but the dogs must stay well exercised and have a job to keep them from getting in to trouble

My dogs are kept inside (other than walks & runs) & are always supervised while in the yard. But this being my first pit I feel I must ask...should I put him on a chain when he's out in the yard? Like I said, it's always supervised, the yard is just a means for doing their business.

I would say yes ...put in a chaim spot for that dog.And get you some breaking sticks if you choose to let him play with your other dogs .Sooner or later you will most likely need them..Be prepared to seperate him from the pack..So go ahead and put a chain spot in for him..Go to the top of the page on the right to the search function and type in chain spots.There you will find your how to info on chain spots.
