...who would it have been. I have always loved the Redboy/Eli cross so though it is a very hard choice to pick, I'd go with Russ from TVK.

Good dogs are where you find them. I'll leave that up to the Dr. Frankenstein's. As far as nutrition and conditioning... based mostly in part to his theroy on conditioning, The Millmaker.

Not so long ago I knew very little about Tri Valley Kennel, only that they knew how to breed some bulldogs. With a little research and putting out feelers to my contacts I not only learned a lot about TVK but I learned what a master breeder and dogman Mr.Herren was as well as a true gentleman of the game and very respected.

Mayfields techniques were way ahead of his time and those techniques are still being used, so I agree as far as conditoner goes...
Don wasnt the only one whoms mentor was the greatest of alltime, as Burton and Anderson were also on top of the game...
Its no mystery why three f the top compettiors in the country were his understudies...
Never claimed to be a breeder but was unriviled by most and even the John Colbys and Howard Hienzels were interested in what was working Earl and often traded or gifted bulldogs with him...
Many of good breeders stemmed from Earls mentorship such as Ab Forsyth,Jim Williams,Jimmy Wimberley and Jim Uselton to name a few Jims...
But the silver fox was most influenced by what was going on at Earls, and for that my first choice would be Earl Tudor...
My second would be in of the others mentioned that were influenced br Earls success...

I'd say George Saddler, seemed like a straight up no nonsense type of man. I respect that

    It's a hard life, but I'm living.

My choice is Andre Giroux. Complete dogman breeding shaping handling and not one to mess with

All great answers, Bobby Smith was a legend, Lester Hughes owned the mountian and rarley lost at home, similar to lightner and Komosinski...
If Saddler didnt invent the practice, he deffinataly mastered it and helped mold it, and Giroux was in another class of his own...
It wouldnt hurt to be on captian americas team as he learned alot from Giroux...

Definitely The Millmaker or Don Mayfield. The aspects of conditioning is one of the most interesting things to me for some reason, would love to be able to learn all the secrets from the pros right by their side.

Another two that come to mind are S.T.P
And Ricky Jones aka the rebel as both had
    Champions and Grand Champions and
Knew how to condition and breed dogs
Also Tom Garner has a wealth of knowledge
About breeding both live and A.I. breeding
And nutrition so i would like to pick his
Brain on those two subjects !

I was thinking S.T.P. as well, based on a yard video I saw. The guy (I am not sure of his name), came across as practical and reasonable. Ozzie Stevens track record also would have recommended him.

I'd go with TDK. I have never met anyone with his patience and way with words to make you think. Second would be STP simply because the name of the game is winning and they knew all too well how to accomplish that. In reality, anyone who was successful in the dogs and had a good personality I would apprentice under. Red Becker is 3 miles from me so he would be a good choice as well.

Great answer, AGK!! I've been holding back from commenting but since AGK said it I might as well own up to it also lol, my choice would be TDK as well. Very humble gentleman who is all about the dogs, and teaching the younger generation the proper way to care for these animals. He's been feeding his family of dogs for many moons and he's as humble as anybody could ever be. Like AGK said he's a very patient man and the way with words he speaks of goes way beyond dogs. T is a very intelligent guy who I personally look up to, not just with dogs but in life in general. If distance wasn't an issue, I would hope that he would let me regularly scoop poop on his yard.

So happy to see TDK getting the respect he deserves. A gentleman and by God...A DOGMAN.
