Spread teams in college has won only one National title and Auburn won it with Cam Newton as QB.None in the NFL.

Revolutionized college football???? That's a stretch, those schemes have been around for years. And winning the division isn't much in the nfc east right now. 9-7 or 8-8 will do it most years

Colts have run the spread for a decade. the Patriots have been to 5 Super Bowls using spread concepts. the SAINTS(!) have won the Super Bowl running spread.
i'm pretty sure it's safe to say that the spread has already made a lasting mark in the NFL.

West coast.Pro style offense..spread team has a dual threat qb.

Spread is defined by using multiple wide recievers on the field

No one wins with the spread in the NFL. They may spread the field and use multiple wide receivers but that is more West Coast than the spread. The 'spread' requires a dual threat quarterback and the threat to run freezes the middle line backer as well as the safety. The receivers run routes to open spaces. This the field is 'spread'.

New Orleans used a modified version of the west coast to win a super bowl. The deep in and deep routes made the screen game the best in the business. For Drew Brees they were long hand offs as much as they were screen passes.

I'm not Cam Newton fan. But every young running QB should emulate him. He took a beating the first couple of years running when he should not run and not going down when he should go down. He paid the price and the team sucked. He has progressed to an excellent pre-snap reader, sees coverage and then runs after his progressions. His designed runs and zone read runs freeze the linebackers and safeties. It really helps his sub par receiving corps. They shot arm when they hear the foot steps a lot of passes.

I did not understand Chip Kelly's plan at all. He had McCoy who would have did wonders running between the tackles as well as the screen game. Bringing a QB with limited mobility who struggles throwing the deep ball to run a mobile/hurry up offense was sort of out there. With no threat to run the linebackers and D-backs can play straight up. I did not get it myself.

The recipe works in high school. Some in college. never in the pros. RGIII. He was the fastest thing on the field in high school. 11 players could only chase him. In college he was faster than every body too, but the 11 he was out running were fast enough to make pursuit effective. He was awesome in college but twice as awesome in high school. Take off in the NFL and the 250lb. LB's are pursuing with a ton of speed. Cut back? Right into a 275lb. lineman fast than most high school placers, and a lot of college players.

In the NFL a QB will run into contact a lot more than he will out of it, unlike high school and college.

I thought they would hold onto him for another year.

t every level of the game including professional (NFL, CFL), college (NCAA, NAIA, CIS), and high school programs across the US and Canada. Spread offenses typically place the quarterback in the shotgun formation, and "spread" the defense horizontally using three-, four-, and even five-receiver sets. Many spread offenses also employ a no-huddle approach. Some implementations of the spread also feature wide splits between the offensive linemen. Many spread offenses use the read option running play to put pressure on both sides of the defense. Spread offenses also leverage vertical (down field) passing routes to spread the defense vertically, to open up multiple vertical seams for both the running and passing game.

The definition of West Coast is more emphasis on the pass then run

And they have been doing this for many many years.... So how exactly did he revolutionize college football.

And the west coast offense is focused more on short horizontal type passes rather than a hand off, it's purpose is to stretch the field in hopes of opening up gaps for long pass and run plays..... sounds alot like the spread
