Good old blood. Don't see it very often anymore. My area had quite a few of red b's dogs around back in the late 80''s early 90's. I grew up less than 10 miles from him. Makes and sells dog feed these days. I've ran into him a few times here and there when at the feed mill. Ch red dog was another good one around too back then. He kept a few and AC here was always trying to mess with him.

I agree with AGK. Great old blood hard to get. Old Colby/Corvino rugged cross that certainly worked in the hands of Dogmen.. A few years back, a gentleman contacted me and was excited about breedin

I know Red well truly one of the best and complete dog men that I have met in my time with these bulldogs, he was a top conditioner and breeder would walk dogs with Judy F. who also was a top conditioner her self and was always hard to beat. She had quite a few CH'S and maybe one or two GR.CH.

Met her quite a few times at her house and other places over the years and believe me there was more than that missing the first time I met her she set me up in her house with a man biter she was sitting at the kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee and ask me if I wanted to see a dog that they just won with and she said he was around the corner as I walked in the room he just missed my face by a whisker. I was so mad that I told her if that ever happened again it was not beneath me to put a whooping on a woman, I later told this story to a dog man that you know and he laugh his ass off and told me not to trust Fergy or her on any thing. I sure do miss them days it was so much more wide open.

AGK I don't talk about the old days that much because most are gone or out of the bulldogs and the young ones that I meet are not that interested but that story brings back another thought about when I met BIG BRAD Haynes he died young but was a real character. We met at a gas station by accident in Pittsburg he had CH LOCO with him and I ask him if he was the real thing and he said he was going to find out soon and I said how long will you leave him down and he said long enough and then invited me to his house later on in the week. So I went down to his house that was on a steep hill it was muddy and walking up that hill took everything out of him because he was so heavy, made me wonder how he got top condition in his dogs, but they always came in right. Any way I brought my cousin and his friend with a dog that came from Jim Taylor from Texas they called him the bitch man because he said he never lost with one. Any way my friends dog was 17 months old and not started and Brad offered to put RED DANGER on him to start. Tigger was the name of my friends dog and his weight was 57 lb if I remember CH RED DANGER was in his high 30's Danger was a top bulldog as he handled Tigger for a good while till the weight showed and Brad pick Danger up and told my friend that his dog was not a match prospect and boy did that piss him off but Brad told the truth. You can learn some thing from every body and I sure did learn a lot from Brad and Lonny Woodberry, S. Poole, S. Lambria, Kolbert who had the famous CRUSHER dog and many others in the PA area.

I received some PM and was ask why I did not mention Oscar Stephany with the other dog men in my post and instead of answering privately I will answer openly. First I want to say my bulldogs run deep with his CH Rastus blood till this day but they did not come from him directly. I did not mention him because he is a house hold name known all around the world and I wanted to give credit to men that maybe most people would not ever hear there names unless you were around at that time because the game is made up of more than a couple of handful of men. Back then you had more people playing the game locally and every state had there circuit that had some thing going most every weekend. But back to Oscar we first met as competitors either directly or indirectly three times in the [ ]. As the years went on we became friends and he passed dogs on to me and even mentored me on certain occasions. When he moved out of Pittsburg and up in the hills it took a four wheel drive truck just to get to his house one way in one way out. I remember one time pulling up unexpected and watched him without him seeing me working two dogs at the same time sitting in a chair flirt polling it truly was a site to see. I became closer to him when he passed the age of 70 going over for dinner and talking dogs some of the best spent time. He was very opinionated in most areas of the dogs and had a real hard on for Jack Kelly as he felt he was not treated fairly by him and knowing all of them I felt the same way as GR CH VIRGIL was not on the cover of the SDJ till he was sold to Solo in 1984 most dogs got small write ups but Virgil did not. He was a complete dog man, he exceled in every aspect of the game from breeding to conditioning. He was the same age as my dad and it was a real shame to lose him as I know if he was still alive and I think he would be still as he did not smoke or drink, be active at this time with the dogs as he told me he was in it for life. There is more I could say but I will leave that to others that knew him.
