One of the most current relative terriers. Not because i say so but because 6 quality old time terriermen voted him so out of the top 3 males they have ever witnessed. Now that says something also he is used in sales pitches when people are selling pups off his sire who never actually made Field Champion. The Machines Dam was A Field Champion as well as her sister Bell who we bred The Machine back to. Remember Merits are made by selection. Merits are made by People with high drive. Merits are made by titles.

Some people would rather breed to the dog that made the dog as much as breeding tot he dog that did the deeds.

As you said Merit is made by selection.

Then why not breed to his Dam who consistently puts her traits in her pups # of the time, that we also owned and is a field Champion as well as a Producer of Champions.

What people fail to realize is the sire was never a earth dog. The traits The Machine has comes from the dam try and stop her as well as the rest of the litter.

T.P.C. How many times has this bitch been bred? I assume more then twice, and has produce CH's in each litter I would say she is a proven producer of great working dogs and if her son's are the best of the litter's by different studs. If my bitch or not I buy the whole litter,of her be'in bred to her best son and keep the whole litter.IMO females produce son's so breed son's back to their dam's this is the best way to maintain a good solid family of dog's.Not the other way round.

    Agreed.

Selection starts with having that type of first hand knowledge.

I don't breed dogs that much as puppies are not worth the hassle to me. But when I buy a dog I want the guy I buy from to sport intimate first hand knowledge of the 'dogs' I'm buying.

If it is the dam's side of the pedigree you are after then by all means breed in that direction.

Something about the curly haired ones I like. They got that innocent look for being such assasins.

It is impressive to watch. In the early to mid 90's I went to a Fila show in Georgia and hooked up with a guy who had Patterdales.

Watching those dogs work is quite the show. As much drive as any dog I have ever seen, as mission orientated as any as well.

thanks T.P.C, is it three different types of quarry ?
sounds handy enough then, 3 digs in one day by the same terrier is nothing out of the ordinary , would be more impressed with consistency throughout the season.

Yes can be different types of quarry such as Racoon Ground hog fox badger. Un like the PTCA you can get Field Champion on one Rat. 3 by the same terrier in one day makes it so the traits are being preserved dogs aren't to hard and dumb. Seems to be tue norm for America now.

Its is impossible to breed her back to the machine because she is dead. She only had one litter. She produced 4 field Champions in that litter. I am familiar with breeding patterns but specialize picking Superior Earth Terriers on Traits and breeding for them. Thats why we bred him back to his Aunt. And produced 2 females that are ready to work.

thanks for your reply T.P.C, good to hear your comment about them not being too hard, many seem to have the wrong idea about patterdales and think they should act like mini pitbulls, overly hard terriers that seek to engage and attempt to kill all quarry, dont last long.
