Non US lines

Curious what countries have been successful with their own performance lines. For sake of discussion, are there pedigrees of APBTs with at least 3 generations of proven ancestors which are all non-US bred dogs? Or do these other countries import regularly from the US to refresh the lines, sustain competitiveness?

Their are many lines around with 5 or more generations of local dogs.
One that's been mentioned recently and is a terrific proven line is nastyman kennels, pedigrees stacked with high quality dogs and a line that continues to grow and improve.

For whatever reasons the Snooty blood that was sent away has flourished in some countries. Dendy, the dog above, is as solid a Snooty bred dog as you will see.

I am not sure whether it is called a fad or not, but recently, the last couple three years, I have seen more and more dogs coming back 'home' to the US.

I am not sure of the legality of the dogs in other countries but I would guess it is not hyped in their media, therefore it may be an easier task to keep a ton of dogs, work thru them and then have a family like the Dendy dog.

And with that said, I think it is as much fad as anything, because I have to believe once the money is spent for the dog, the shipping to get said dog here, and all the related costs, there has to be a dog here in America just as good.

Great topic. I'd be interested to hear more from the 'international community" as they would have a much better perspective.

Not so much a question of which countries specifically, just thoughts on whether a successful line with 3 plus gens of significant dogs can be sustained without the refreshing from US bred dogs. I suspect not too common. Had this debate offline regarding another working breed...difficult to a find a pure 3 gen plus pedigree of significant US bred working dogs, without European dogs to strengthen.

Is not Country Boy's Snooty Girl a US bred dog?

I would say once the dogs get over there the process would be the same as here in the US. Breed the good dogs to the good dogs, cull thru selection and in time a family outside the US will stand on its own.

I am not sure how many times, or even if, there was a need to bring in fresh blood from the US.

I had a Rottwiler once from Austria. Sort of inherited him just as I got out of the service. It was my first experience with pink papers and the success of the entire litter being of importance.

His pedigree was basically all Austrian and German. I got into some obedience work and in turn my first encounters with bite work. He was a way better dog than I was a trainer/handler. He taught me way more than I ever taught him.

I had a ton of breeding requests from the Rottweiler community. Mostly because they were looking for the European/German influx back into their dogs.

So back to your point, I think any good program needs the influx of good dogs. If they are on one country and needed in another, then that is the best option.

As far as how often and from what country to the next, I am not sure.

During the 80's I knew a guy had a yard of around 40 dogs imported from James Crenshaw, Rebel Kennels and Fletcher Chavis, can you imagine the genetics he had? And zero came from it..
The female below 100% yard starter, would cost a fortune today and what solid line came down off her?

This 2xw below was bred and what's bred down off him that's around today?

They all been in the EU and hardly a pup bred down off them alive today.. Surely no one deny one of them would have produced? They came here in the 80's and plenty more too, but either we never appreciated that great blood, or we never knew what to do with it.. Sometimes reminds me of a story I heard years ago about a robber.. He steals a shot gun, saws off the barrel, robs the post office, gets arrested, then finds out later the shotgun he sawed in half was an antique worth 100 grand~X(

Can't deny the possibility the dogs might have been papered up DISCOIII, except Highlander's Oz had 2 champion brothers in EU.. Oz himself was a 2xw who lost game in #3 against the best dog ever in UK, so for that reason I tend not to blame the dogs so much as our management of them, that said, the EU wide persecution of the APBT was also might also a contributing factor.

The eu and the far leftist have pretty much won...makes me ashamed of my own nation. I could never understand why people try to involve themselves in something they don’t understand/want to see.
