Indeed. The iridescent red and blue neck and jet-black body are awesome, and that claw would make a box cutter envious.

I used to know a herpetologist on AOHell who kept various species of Naja (cobras). I dunno how he fed them. A pet venomous snake is suicide in a cage.

I've kept reptiles for as long as I can remember but I don't do snakes. Constrictors, venomous or other. Never had an interest in them. Never seen the appeal in keeping animals of any kind that I may be included in the food chain or that can cause me a great deal of pain or loss of limbs lol. Lizards though, that's more to my liking. I always have a few around.

I've only ever seen these birds in zoos and they are very impressive looking animals. That dagger of a spur though would make me never want one. I watch a series on tv called Fatal attractions and everytime I see someone getting killed by their pet venomous snake, large predator or just straight up wild animal I just think to myself, well duh..... Lol

Like who TF wants a gaboon viper. I mean sure they are cool to look at but one mistake and your bleeding out every orifice uncontrollably. Nothing apealling to me at all there lol. Same with tigers, bears, hippos or extremely large reptiles etc. It's dancing with death and it will almost certainly happen eventually if you keep such animals for any lenght of time.

Went to my cousin's house in South Carolina that new a commercial breeder of big cats .My cousin knew this man personally he wanted to show me his Siberian Tiger Holy S### this cat was huge about 675 pounds all I could do is just stare at this huge cat never see anything like it. and yes I have been to plenty of Zoos and seen cats before nothing compares to this cat the only thing separating me and this cat was a chain link fence and 1' foot this cat walk right up to the fence and stared at me I had to look away I don't believe I have ever been scared that bad in my life. the man ensured me he was gentle as a house cat I did not want to find out I wanted to leave right now after I change my underwear. a lot of people talk S### about animals what they would do with a pipe in their hand or something's . I would not take a pipe or anything in that pin with that CAT it's suicide for you.

When I was in school for Vet Tech, early part of 2000, we got to go behind the scenes of our local zoo here. We got to the lions cage up close and personal at eye level and only 5 to 10 feet away from them.. Looking down on them as a zoo visitor does not give you a good assessment as to just how large these cats really are. The male lion was right at the door looking at us like we were lunch. I'm 6 foot tall and this lion stood on all 4s at about 5.5 feet tall. I was just over his eye level. Me, being me, decided to stare him in his eyes then I showed him my teeth. He roared at me and lunged at the cage door. The percussion from the roar went right through me. Never felt anything like it before and I have 2 competition 15 inch woofers in my trunk running 7,400 watts and they don't feel anything like his roar did.

Needless to say, I immediately shut my mouth and looked away. I aint going to lie, it had me shook. The way he hit the door made me feel very uneasy. Like he could hit it a few more times and he'd be at us. You don't get the right perspective of their actual size looking down on them like you do standing right in front of them at ground level. Easy to see why they are apex predators.

No way in hell I'd ever want one as a pet.

I would only own endothermic beasts--mammals and gamecocks--but iguanas, chameleons and monitor lizards are da bomb. All the things you said are true. A whole lot of these creatures are too big, too wild, too venomous, et cetera to keep in close confinement. Particularly if they think human flesh is delicious.
