One of those old pbn,s featured a sort of family tree that traced the best uk and irish dogs back to their american ancesters, different to a pedigree, more of a family tree . I cant put my hands on it,because i dont keep them where i live.I met a guy on strensham services, and bought the full set of 34 from him,if i remember right he advertised them for sale in Edrd magazine.I spent hours studying them and was amazed by how many top bloodline pups were being offered for sale at the time.

But this might also be the big trouble in most cases. What do the new owners know about them dogs and their selection-process ?
What if it produces a fault you can't see right from the start ? If inbreeding still works ?

Another reason why i admired Andre Giroux,he never had any yard to speak of,a bit more like your uk or irish dogman,it didnt matter what blood he used he always got the best out of it.

    This is very true.

One of the hardest and least spoken of is the ability to maximize a dogs potential.

The man that turned me onto the dogs who was active on the 60's,70's and 80's said AG given 8 weeks could win with a Cocker Spaniel. Then give him a really good bulldog and he was as good as there ever was.

    This is a great point.

Sometimes the dogs can perform in spite of their owners but never can they produce by their own accord.

Selection is always key, regardless of family or country of origin.

I'm actually surprised there's nothing about Mexico dogs, or Mexico Dogmen mentioned in this thread.....

I think some of the very best bulldogs of our time is coming out of Mexico I bought three about three years ago and all three turned out, very rare for that to happen.

Little Holly wasn’t stolen, she hung herself shortly after being placed to protect her, as the dda was coming in, she produced fairly well. Your correct there was a 2xer down from Swamper named Skallywag, not reported or that well know as owner kept it private, he was a double grandson of Swamper.

I’d guess the main reason for many lines (in 91) disappearing was the dda, lot of yards got wiped out soon after it came in. That and ppl not working together post 91, to selectively maintain and keep the lines together.

The main reason, if you look in the mirror. Is to many people got these pretty papered dogs and don’t check the individual dog, to see if they’re worthy of being bred from before breeding. So they sell these well bred top quality pups to others who go on to repeat this process. Therefore quickly deteriorating the quality these lines were known for. Doesn’t take much to totally screw up a well bred lines of bulldogs.

Rosita produced fairly well, show dogs in every litter I think. Always kick myself for turning down the sister to Mary J when I had the opportunity to buy her.
