They can be large but their teeth are like ours, square. Just bigger. Not going to last long against anything with cutters. Especially a very tenacious type dog. I had a Jack Russell from a guy who hunts with them a decade or so back and as a young dog she would easily dispatch grass rats. I'd imagine the Jags and patts are even harder terriers than the JRs. Don't know that for sure but it sure seems that way to me when I see videos of them all. Lol the bulldogs kill them with a single shake.

When I first bought the house I'm in now I had a breeding pair of g-hogs with a litter of 6 pups. The male was huge. Not much smaller weight wise than my bulldogs are. With in 2 weeks only the male was alive from my dogs picking them off as they try to cross my yard to get to my other neighbors garden. The male learned to not cross my yard anymore so I shot him while he was grazing in my neighbors yard with a compound bow out my second floor window. Took a vicious mechanical broadhead right in the face while standing up. Haven't seen one here since. Lol.

They can be hardy but they are no match for a dog. Maybe a chi or something like that but no terrier I know of.

Those ghogs can be clumbsy above ground from what iv been told from dog/terrier men. In their domain, they use their hole to the best of their advantage.the dogs adapt and overcome. Iv heard there are coons in their holes many times . They can do some damage in a small hole also.
This is just what I gather from those I talk to that have the Parterdale/Fell terriers.
I have a real Iterest in running game with dogs. It is legal here for many furr bearing varmets.
I let my dogs dig in a bit but nothing like the small dogs do. They go to ground...tree...and can certainly barn storm coons.

My brother runs lakeland terriers for ground dogs and they do the trick. They are game little bastards with lots of drive. His bitch is stupid game like a inbred redboy. Huge teeth for a less than 20lb dog. They sound like tazmanian devils when they are working.

Would love to watch little terriers work the ground and barns. Always have. It's the digging to them I'm not thrilled with. Lol

I have seen Ghog bust teeth out of terriers as well as slice the gums up and take nose off of terriers. Coons are more like a dog in the ground. Being a traditional earth hunter digging is the fun part. I often use the phrase its like a box of chocolate you never know what you are going to get. You have to do what is available in your area thats for sure.

This is 100% correct ground hogs terriers rarely if any ever finish in the ground unless they are small or you have A ace terriers. Most terriers have to be 13# or under to go after ground hog!

I really do listen n learn.
AGK...they are so fun to watch work. For sure. Can be very useful to farmers. Like our bulldogs can be for coyotes...farmers will just let ya clear em...
Been really watching the decoy dogs channel. Also this fellas channel.
Any dog channels ready. Even the hog hunters.

TPC..do t these lil dogs do hogs..or is it the bigger types??
    100 percent determination..Grit..and Game..

Bigger ones like the imports use for hog hunting. In the 20-25 lbs range. A 10lbs terrier would contest one but would be no match for a hog as a hog dog. Doubt they could stay with it as long as J.B. Mooney! Terriers are still bred by location in the United states. If you hunt ground hog and coon they are smaller. If you hunt beaver or otter then the size is that of the imports. Hope this help out.

Digging is the fun part! Its suspenseful Nerve wracking exciting all at the same time. Many people have lost dogs in the earth as well as suffocated. People still have lost dogs currently. My last dig to a groundhog

there’s more to a terrier than just a digging dog from bushing to ratting and general mooching. But you can guarantee the game terriers are from digging blood.

I prefer traditional terrier work but winter time will do barns with seasoned terriers.
