What a sad story.

I seen several posts on my timeline about this from people who knew her. She showed APBTs in conformation across the pond and was pretty well known for it from my understanding of the posts I was reading concerning her. What an aweful way to go out. Feel bad for her husband. He has to be totally beside himself over this.

Tragic

 

The officials had the audacity to claim it could have been by her own dog and dna was taken to rule it out. As if her own dog bit itself up too. How ridiculous. I believe the black dog in the picture is the one she was walking with at the time.

 

I seen dog packs roaming in rural areas of France, Spain Greece etc, they get territorial, anything can set them off, dangerous as fck! I seen humans act same way but that's another story.. It's called pack mentality! Avoidable and sad whichever way you look at it!

 

I know I’m late getting in on this but last year just after we moved to our farm I had 3 coyotes that kept getting way closer than I have ever seen a coyote get. One was more red in color and twice the size. After we completed building our horse barn one night I walked out there to check on things. I grabbed my 22 lever rifle because I was hoping to pop a skunk that had been stinking the place up every night.
When I got to the barn I saw the big coyote on its hind legs with its head in my trash can. I popped him twice and the damn thing growled and showed it’s teeth at me before running the other way. I ahot it once more on the way out then twice more in the pasture to finish it. DNR took the coyote and months later they told me it was 2/3 domestic dog. Not sure how it could have been 2/3 put nevertheless it was dangerous as it lacked the fear of humans and was 3 times as large.

 

Wild Dogs are dangerous and run in packs ans can take down anything.I was chased up a tree bout 20 years ago by a wild pack.Very scary .After I got situated I did some damage with the 30 30 .I went ahead and got up a tree just for a advantage and didnt have worry bout one grabbing me from behind if shit got bad.

 

Sad thing here is this lady was prob trying to protect her dog as much as her self,couldnt go up a tree with a dog in her arms.

 

This is exactly what I was thinking! I try to tell ANYONE that has a dog that is your first line of defense!! I am NOT protecting my dog unless I got that iron on me.

Very sad. They need to shoot the dog that was with her .if i aint leaving the forest sure as hell my dog aint going nowhere either ... and then Have target practice on that pack

 

Why shoot her dog? These dogs ain't machines. It tried to protect her from my understanding of the situation and articles I've read so far but one of these dogs, no matter how good it is, isn't going to fend off an entire pack of dogs, they aren't indestructible. From what I've read about the situation the dog was all bit up too not leaving her and more than likely tried protect her but was simply overwhelmed and outnumbered. It would get a hold of one of them while the rest of the pack picks it apart.

 

I think it would depend on how many were in the pack.

may I ask why everybody's talking about a wild dog? Because the thing is that we're almost sure (people are still waiting for the result of the DNA test) that the poor girl got killed by a pack of hunting dogs.
The day that shit happened there was a hunt in that forest, don't know how you call this kind of hunt in english but it's the kind of hunt like english people did years ago too, you let a 40-60 dog's pack chasing down the prey with people following on horses, ...
When she called her husband she told her that she felt threatened by hunting dogs, when her husbnad went in the forest looking for her he met a man on a horse with a pack of hunting dogs, a dozen of minutes later he found the mutilated dead body of her pregnant wife, with her dog laying on her and barking for help.
Since that shit happened a lot of people say it was probably her own dog, or some wild dogs but from the informations i have I would say that she probably got mauled to death byt a pack of hunting dogs, not a pack of wild dogs, not a tiger or anything else...
As said we're still waiting in France for the DNA results, 95 dogs have been tested, including her own dogs (all).
As we speak, Curtis, the dog that was with her and that stayed with her till the end is still locked up.

 

Yea, I agree. I was with Wicked until I read this and thought about it. Apbt are 1 on1 bred. I can see him/her focusing on one dog then get jumped by a couple. I had 70+-lber chainweight that might have dealt with a 1-2, but numbers are hard to beat. I guess she would have needed a straight up “protection” type dog to just keep them back instead of engaging

 

Dogs running in a pack will and can develop pack instincts.I've saw it happen so I doubt doubt if they were hunting dogs is what I'm saying.Ive hunted with dogs over 40 years and saw some pretty wild stuff.They get so excited that things can get out of hand some times although ive never been attacked in this type scenario .I have had to break up fights when hunting with dogs but never saw any human attacked .I do believe its possible though.

 

I’m sorry but are you trying to say an English fox hound or group of similar dogs ate that woman during a hunt?
I’ve raccoon hunted my whole life and at times there’d be 2 dozen dogs or more all hunting together and never have I seen or heard of them causing harm to a human. They hunt raccoons.
I think your off base to think a group of hounds on a legitimate fox, coon, hunt of the like would all of a sudden decide to kill a human.

I have however had more than one coon hound walk up behind me and piss all over boots and leg.

 

Yes that's what I'm saying. They were not hunting coon or fox they were hunting dear.

Truth will be know soon, I know it is hard to believe for hunters, they all say the same as you, they've never seen any agressivity against humans in those dogs.

Right now it's a war between hunters and people that are against hunt in France.

The only thing I know is that you don't need to be a canine expert to make the difference between a pack of hunting dogs and a pack of wild dogs. That poor girls knew her dogs, she had 2 apbt and 2 or 3 staffords, she was quite involved in the dog's world. She told to her husband that she was threatened by hunting dogs. A hunt was on at the same time, the guy that should keep the pack together (the piquer or something like this in french) was sick that day and it's the "capitain" that was doing that job at the same time he was doing what the capitain is supposed to do. (I'm no hunter I can't say more)

Honnestly, for me (one more time i'm no canine expert) it's hard to believe that a pack of 40 hunting dogs was exactly at the same place, at the same moment than a pack of wild dogs.
