Thanks! @Box Bulldog . Great info and I remember George Chavalo well, what you said about his gameness and chin was absolutely proven! How does Ruiz or Joshua compare to fighters like him? They don't! Can't say what would have happened if Chavalo met Henry Cooper? It's fact Cooper's eyes were damaged, even before fighting Ali and Bugner...
When I was young, my older brother fought amateur out of the same boxing gym as Ken Buchanan.. Think Buchanan got awarded 'American Boxing Writers' fighter of the year over others like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in 1970.. We sort of idolised Ken Buchanan at home, but 30 years later, my dad reminded me of an Irish guy called Danny who lived in the next tenement to ours, a quiet young guy, always smiled and said hello... Turned out he fought Muhammad Ali's brother (Rahman Ali) on the undercard of Ali v Frazier at Maddison Square Garden in 1971, beat the shit out of him, won on points, then took the British and Commonwealth titles in 1972.. His name was Danny McAlinden, we all so busy idolising Buchanan, didn't realise another boxing champion was living next door.. Danny McAlinden photo below.

Good story! I am glad to hear you know about our George! Not many no about him other than Canadians he was born 40 years to late he would of been the man in 20+ round fights. George is still alive he is 83 now starting to get some dementia now though but he is 83. He had no brain issues from taking all those shot. He was a good speaker after his long career went to schools to try and get kids not to do drugs. He lost 3 of 4 boys to heroin and after that his wife took her own life. He had it hard in the ring and out. If you have interest there is a documentary on him called George Chuvalo the last round I think you would enjoy its on you tube. He also fought ring magazine fight of the year 1965 against Floyd Patterson I believe they fought to a draw. One things for sure if he was in there with Anthony Joshua he may not of won but Joshua would of known he was in a fight. George would of been on him like stink on shit from the first bell to the last. 51WqhgcaN7L._SY445_.jpg

When George fought Ali in the first 15 round fight on 2 weeks notice Ali was in the hospital for a few day urinating pure blood from Georges body attack. George took his wife out dancing that night after the fight.

Chuvalo didn't really, McCall has been in the ring with some real big bangers and never really ever got hurt as far as I know. He was also a long term sparring partner for a prime Mike Tyson.

He's still fighting today at 54 years old.

You remember when he had a breakdown against Lennox Lewis in their rematch?

They tried to force me to fight Tony Tucker. And I remember looking at Tony Tucker, and saying, "Mama didn't raise no fools, I'm not fighting him". And they took the titles. Some people I'm not going to fight. That's the good reason. I don't want to fight him. Too rough.

Lol not according to any bible thats been written.

Though I do agree, not the part that Jesus will be welcoming as it's been written homosexuality is an abomination but that as human beings we should evolve pass ones sexual preferences and refrain from judgement as it's not our place to do so..
