300 or 5k for a gr ch ... both still good deals. For me 5k in this case is a little bit too much, 300 still ok :D

JP Colby, Joe Corvino, Ham Morris, Earl Tudor, Bert Clouse, George Saddler, Walter Komosinski, Howard Heinzle, Pete Sparks. Maurice Carver, Floyd Boudreaux, Pat Patrick and most of the foundation breeders all sold dogs.. Were they peddlers? I don't think so, but they did sell dogs! Ed Reid sold dogs on an industrial scale and there's room to state if he never, then the UK would have been a pretty dull place during the 80's.. My point is selling dogs to the public usually gets a negative response and it's difficult to understand why since the founding fathers of the breed been running adds in local newspapers selling their dogs throughout history. Well that's my opinion about selling dogs to the public!

So what about puppy prices? I want champions for copper washers, but is that really going to happen? Is $750 - $1000 too expensive for the first/new addition to your yard? Think of the bragging rights if that eat n' shit little yapper turns out? Pit Island Kennels were known for being expensive, just look how many kennels using that blood today, maybe 3 generations later? Tom Garner? Same story! Lot of people paid the $2000 price tag for a pup and very glad they did.. My mentor in the Art/Kingfish blood charged $1000 a pup, just up the road from him an old Turtlebuster male that was $2000 stud fee and sure as god made apples, I'd have paid the money, reared the pups and felt like the richest man on the planet having that blood around me! Everyone want's the best! Who you get it from and what you pay is a private and personal journey!

    What up?!

Yea but you could very well be paying 5k for a cur and 500 for a Gr Ch. I think we can all agree price doesn’t have to do with anything other than what one wants to sell pups for and what one wants to pay. Find the breeder that’s willing to sell the blood you want at the price you want. We all have a limit... well, most of us

But when Joe Corvino and Howard Heinzl were standing in a corner and looked over and saw George Saddler, one said, "That motherfucker is just selling puppies" and the other laughed in agreement.

Then mix that statement any way you want and plug in the the famous names.

The easiest way to pick out a peddler is let him be standing outside a crowd. The crowd will dub him really quick. LOL

I'd jump to own a dog from any of them, as it was absolutely no disrespect intended. It is just how people are when there is competition or money involved.

My gramps more than likely hung more papers in Beagles than all the people in the bulldogs combined. He registered hundreds of dogs whether they were actually bred or not, and some long after they died. You bought a dog from him odds are it was a really good dog, especially from the pens in the back. He had a stack of AKC papers and he would scroll thru and say, "Yep, this is ol' Spot'.

So it is just not in the bulldogs.

At TG's this past July I was talking with this kid and he had a dog off a dog I bred to in 2000. He was 12 when I bred to him in 2000. Factor in his dog just turned 12 months and then do the math. His papers will show a heck of a dog. (Not a frozen semen case by any means)

I just said, "Damn, that is a good looking puppy. Well bred too". and left it at that.

Like anything, when used correctly papers can be very valuable and can mean a lot, but at the same time they can be a means to a true sticking with some dollars on the back side.
