I'm sure it wasn't your intension but it comes across as in some way Hollingsworth was in some way unsuitable for the breed. How wrong you are.
D did ask Ed for a pup and Ed did refuse. What D wanted was a female pup and Ed refused as he wasn't selling any female pups at the time D asked.
D himself was a true gent, family man and a real asset to the breed. His knowledge was as good and probably better than Ed's and far more practical to beginners than what Ed knew.

  2. not hollingsworth of the usa cik do some research, old guy knows which buzz im on about a boomerang bred dog well known of the era produced well.
i dont know if rick woulda sold him to hollingsworth without the sire quiting,i try keep an open mind with what u hear and read bout ppl and there dogs as hear say, seeing is believing is the policy i adopt as with so many great dogs coming from quiters lol finlys bo bullyson believe i read somwhere that stubberfields buddy quit when young but as i say none of us where there so the plot thickens lol best keep an open mind and believe what u see with your own eyes i say

Buzz was bred by Frydman in Canada, who was buying as many Boomerang dogs as he could get. if memory serves me right was the 6-7th bulldog imported. Buzz never was as hyped up as much as other dogs in the mags and never produced as many pups as them, but he certainly produced a good percentage of game dogs. Shame he became infertile at a relatively young age. Unlike most imports Buzz was checked and proved game.
Brings back happy memories, I liked Dino and felt he was a good game honest dog, if somewhat unspectacular.

I guessed but the way you wrote it didn't put D in a good light. I knew him if you hadn't of already guessed and learn't more from D than anything I learn't from Ed.
He wanted if good enough to bred from a gyp as he already had intension's to import a dog.

So all one has to do is import, not test a dog and breed it to any and all untested gyps on the yard. Let others work em and when they breed of them dogs a generation or so. The person who imported a dog is Then entitled to have his name attached to those dogs. I don't think so.
The credit goes to those who worked, tested and made the dogs famous and did those subsequent breeding's.

Westside I wasn't sure that's why I said I assume you meant mr Hollingsworth of the usa, as you weren't very clear, and I think mr Hollingsworth of the usa would have been many peoples understanding of who you might have meant ,especially on this forum which is predominatly made up of members from the usa , so maybe you could have been more specific and said a mr Hollingsworth from the uk, who nobody outside of the uk would have ever heard of .

Nope it's all in the selectively a good breeder use's to select the dogs to use as brood. If a breeder just breeds to sell and don't check males or females, then that is nothing but luck if anything good comes from his breeding's.

Westside I really don't know how you can say that ed wouldn't sell a dog to just anybody, im not sure how old you are ,but if you had been around back in the early 80s you couldn't move for the amount of dogs on the streets he must have sold, and again I never heard of ed have a vetting policy for prospective owners, the only requirement was did they have the cash ,he may have declined selling a bitch as was said by blueboy, regarding mr hollingsworth but that is quite normal procedure with many breeders from time to time , depending on how a bitch is bred ,and if that breeder thinks it may take money out of their pocket down the road , but that's about it as far as not selling to anyone goes regarding ed.

    @ Blueboy.

I never had much experience with Buzz crosses but I liked them a lot, always respected Buzz and the dogs behind him.. I think I understand what you meant regarding CH.Dino being 'unspectacular'.. Rayrock's Chainey was pretty much the same, turned often so a gamblers delight but no stopping in him.. Saw him v's Whitt's Rocky, cant remember the time but a long one with Rocky losing DG.. Nothing 'unspectacular' about CH.Klogger though, that dog was plain evil. :)

LOL I never see Klogger go, but I remember his rep was such it gave many nightmares. Imo he got that from Zeita from what Dillon's told me she was an ace. Gunner to Zeita was a great litter 4-5 winners, and 3 of those produced winners.
Dillon's owner, I'd say had more experience with them than myself. Buzz's best offspring imo would be either Zeita or the dg Ch Big Red, best litter again my opinion the 1st mating to Golden Girl, 3 pups born Ch Big Red, Carlin 2xw and Jazz.

Ed was selective especially in the early days, and tried to limit the number of gyps he sold, I also don't think he produced alot of them in his early litters. Which is why D wasn't sold one. There wasn't that many of them walking the streets, in the early 80's the breed was a rarity.

Thanks Blueboy.. That area, that era, the dogs and the men behind them IMO represents the greatest time and also most serious competition ever in the history of UK gamedogs.

Dillons owner really rated zieta ..... Didn't klogger quit to charlie though ? Heard klogger was rough when he beat pirate .... But a fella told me pirate was one of the gamest dogs he'd seen and if he had been conditioned by him would have beaten klogger ?
