I am not sure if this is the correct thread for this but maybe someone can helpme.Ijust got letter from my insurance company canceling our homeowners insurance because of the dogs.We have had this insurance for 3 months and they never asked us about any dogs. There are no complaints about my dogs we have never been involved in any incidents.Has anyone else had this problem and are there any suggestions on insurance companies?I live in Kansas

me and my insurance agent have had alot of discussions over my pit bulls and i've been with state farm for 16 years,,, if you have pitbulls it's not an issue unless they (how can i say this) like your putting them at a serious risk and not keeping them from being a problem,,, I persoonally have never had an issue,,, i've had several adjusters here at times and they all liked the dogs,,,played with a few,,, but they also said if they feel there may be a problem that they have to report it,,, thus resulting in cancellation,,,

They send folks by to take pictures and do drive by inspections is how they know. You have no privacy.

I have never had a problem due to my dogs.

Thanks I think state farm is the only one Ive heard of but other people said state farm had a policy against pits so i guess ill just have to start calling around. We have farm burea and the reason i went with them was becaise a girl at work told me that they accepted her pits so i really dont know what the deal with these insurance companies is im starting to think it might just depend on the particular agent.I absolutley HATE insurance companies i always seem to have trouble with them

They must not like our money. Need to make a master list of companies and organizations that are not APBT or other breed friendly and boycott them. Hit them in the wallet.

Too bad we can't start our own insurance company. I'd imagine its a bit more involved than starting a dog club, though.

  11. Well let me put it this whey I will never use state farm again. I had an adjustor come over after a storm not make a claim in my house because I had pitbulls and He didn,t like them. Also he called family services and made a complaint that I had pit bulls and thought they would harm my kids. after that The Wouldnt,t claim my damaged properity. after $1500 later getting a lawyer they finally claimed my properity dammage and wrote me a check for a new roof and vinyl siding. I will never use them again and will never say a good word about them.

Oh the family services lady came over and thought I had the best dogs in the world and didn,t see that the dogs put my family in any harm at all.

We had State Farm renter's in St. Louis. Our adjuster was a Pit Bull owner, and we spent some time swapping stories about our dogs. I never had a problem with them, and they understood what breed I owned, and that I needed the liability insurance to satisfy a city requirement on the breed. We now have State Farm as our auto insurance carrier, and will be getting the renter's again when we can afford it.

I think that, nationally speaking, State Farm has a policy against breed discrimination. If I had an SF person try to discriminate against me, I'd probably try and go over their heads. Or with a different local branch, if that makes a difference.

  13. I went over their heads made a corperate complaint and that is where the problem started after that I guess I was more of a pain in the ass than it was worth that is more than likeley why they canceled my policy. Plus I about told my agent that i was goign to put a foot up his ass and scared the shit out of him after he called family services.. I think there was even talk of a restraining order.

state farm is NOT against pitbulls,,,,i'll go into what the adjuster told me about them,,, if they go onto a property and they are tyied all over the yard then there will be a discussion about the dogs,,,and why having so many,,, they have always taken care of any trouble of mine and will continue to be my insurance of choice,,,,can't beat there price anywhere,,,my agent suggested me putting a replacement value on my house when i bought it and has taking care of any concerns i've ever had,,, STATE FARM IS PIT BULL FRIENDLY,, ASK anyone that has them as a agent,, or call them and ask them are they pit bull friendly

Okay, here are just a few i found I will have to look later as there were countless links and my eyes are getting tired from reading:continental airlines,a magaazine called "animal people",a group called "animal advocates of B.C.,the commerce city gateway publication in commerce city colorado, the miami herald, readers digest(several articles with derogatory remarks about pits that have nothing to do with the story),nike aired a commercial where a pit and rott were faced off ,when people complained they defended it saying the commercial was"edgy",DMX was charged and pled guilty to 13 count of animal cruelty for owning 13 neglected and emaciated pit,Jay-Z makes refrences to dog fighting in "99 problems".Also big-boi from outcast and i dont have to explain that to anyone who has seen those deformed mongrels he has the audacity to call pit bulls.Thats all i have for now but im sure ill find more.

  18. They also told me that They will not cover kennels.

I never ask about a kennel,,, they know i have 6 grown dogs and never had a discussion about any trouble,,,, now as everyone knows there is predujice ppl out there and some are just afaid of the breed in general,,, sounds like what u ran into sedillia,,, but with 6 grown dogs,,, some kennels don't have that many,,, i don't know,,, like i said sedillia,,, sounds like you got a scardy agent

  20. yah that agent was a retart. and I swear if I find him on the streat he will be a retart with a scared up face LOL joking.
