know what's funny? i also breed Olde English Bulldogges & one day my bully stud (103 lbs) got to my best female pit (50 lbs). now the pups were good looking, but man if they were painted blue they could have been from the gotti line! hmmm........... what's even better were people offering me absurds amount of money for the dogs they tried to tell me, the breeder!, were true pits (somehow i must have been wrong  ). thank god for close friends who didn't have dogs & wanted pets.

I think you should start feeding your dogs gold....So they can SCHETT out gold nuggets, Then you could sell them for $3,000.... hahahaha......

Stumbled across this old thread, and just wanted to share. I live in rural Pennsylvania and my Hemphill/Wilder/Boogieman pup has been called a chocolate lab numerous times and I always get comments like well she doesn't really look like a pit. Her dad is an ADBA show champion so I hope she's at least close to what the real thing should look like

Most people don't even know what a real APBT looks like, so don't worry about that. Real APBT are game bred dogs. Which basically means things like looks and color are not important. They are bred for performance and to do a job. The show variation is the AST bred less for performance (although some can still perform) and more for looks. People are calling those hippo style dogs APBT and bandogs APBT... I think for a dog to be called an APBT it should be from pit proven stock and to pass on it's genes it must earn the right doing what they were bred to do.

I always laugh at these threads...I have some good represenative s from the American Bully s..With that being said I dont mean pit worthy..But i have saw some and know people who breed them for catch work and cull like they should..And they are nice ,very stable dogs without health issues. But yeah most are bad breeders but if u happen to get one from a breeder that works them they are nice dogs..Again not for pit quality.

I disagree, Whiskey. I think if you breed "away" to any degree, from the essence of these dogs, it has some meaning in one way or another. If that diversion satisfies anyone, fine. As long as it doesn't create detrimental news in some way. But as to it's having meaning, it has to depend on which people you mean, as to what any meaning might be. To most, any diversion merely creates a breed OTHER than the one we endear.

It's just the color. Because there are SO MANY chocolate Labs out there and most people have seen them, their first inclination is to think "chocolate Lab" when they see a similar-sized dog of the same color.

Everyone always asks me what type of dog I have an my response is "some mutt" I use to tell the a true to type pitbull they'd say doesn't look like any pitbull I seen " so if the questions isn't what bloodline she is, then we have no reason to talk dogs

The only reason people want them is to breed and sell pups. My wife rescued a blue female a couple years and can't pay somebody to take her because we got her fixed. The girl we got her from was done breeding her and was gonna drop her off at the pound and get put to sleep if we didn't take her. Damn shame she's a very sweet dog too looks like the dog in bigtazz's avatar.

  16. Just my two cents here but I don't really think breeding for looks is...smart (example would be those "exotic bullies" those dogs are just straight up depressing) they should be bred for a purpose.

  17. breeding for looks is never a good idea. having said that, i do have a blue colored apbt - not the lowrider types or the monsters being sold for a small fortune. and only because hog hunting was mentioned this dog hits like a train and wont let go for anything. without too much detail im sure hell die on the hog before he quits it but he is the ONLY one ive ever seen like that. i had a friend who wanted to test his blue bully mastiff creature and one small slice turned it into a bay dog. ive seen a couple others do the same thing in the woods after doing good in the pen. there blues were 100 pounds but had no heart. my 40 lb blue mutt will get her done tho
