Arkansas BSL?

Discussion in 'Laws & Legislation' started by northtxpulldogs, Apr 23, 2007.

  1. I would appreciate a complete list of all of the towns with BSL in Arkansas. I do not live there, however I visit often because of family. I am highly curious where BSL is present in this state. Thank you.

Little Rock, Pine Buff, North Little Rock, Mountain Home or View I forget which. I live out in the sticks here. Stay away from them dirty ass cities and you will be fine.
Oh and you might as well come see me if your going to be wondering around the state.

lol thanks guys I appreciate the list of the cities. I have considered moving back to Arkansas several times but not sure because of BSL. I am rather happy in Texas but miss the mountains and beautiful countryside in ARK. Since Attila you live in Arkansas my current favorite places there are around Heber Springs and in the Western part of the state. How does BSL fare in those places?

  5. thank you both for you replies. I do love the countryside in Arkansas but have been worried about moving and traveling there because of BSL. The only places I actually like in ARK are around Heber Springs and also in the western portion of the states. I'm curious does Jacksonville and Searcy have BSL in affect. I have been told multiple things and I would like to have that cleared. Once again thanks.

No but I would not live in either of those places. Just dirty cities with too many people.

  7. Well Attila how bad are people against the breed up around Heber Springs and the western part of the state? I wasn't planning on living in either Jacksonville or Searcy but I am there frequently with my dogs and have friends/family in both places. It seems like BSL is more common in the more populated areas particularly around Little Rock. I heard that Hot Springs has a breeding restriction or ban on pit bull breeding is that true. I'm not a breeder but was just curious. Thanks I'm glad someone is willing to answer my questions.

Heber may have. However I am ther often with the boat and I always have at least one dog with me. Never had any one say ony thing that was important. I was talking to one of the deputies a few weeks ago and I had three in the care and he didn't say anything about them. But it is always best to live out side of city or town limits. Not because of BSL issues namely but to avoid any people issues. Heber Springs is a nice place. most of the west side of the state minuse Texarkansas and Fayetteville are ok. Those are large cities and just not very good places to have dogs safely. I will call the City Hall in Heber and find out if you need.

  14. Thank you Attila I'd highly appreciate it! I do miss Arkansas and if I end up moving there I would definitely fight BSL. I'd appreciate any info anyone can give me on the state. Once again I highly appreciate it.

searcy has a ban on pitbulls in the city,, i live about 25 miles from there,,, jaxsonville does also but not enforced to strikely,,, but i do know searcy does have a pit bull thingy,,,,
    heber i,m not sure about

  18. so how bad is Arkansas about passing BSL? I noticed it seems to be a pattern of more populated areas particularly around Little Rock/North Little Rock. My question is what would it take for some people to get those laws overturned?

it's really not that bad,,,, i think they did banned inside little rocks city limits but not north little rocks,, searcy christian colleges(harding) is behind the banned inside city limits,,, other than that it's just restrictions or ordinances you have to abid by,,,, nothing major like a banned,,,,,,,,What will it take? all these owners and whatnot to stand up for there rights,,,, which will not happen,,,we fought it here and won it but it was expensive for me personally and one other i know,,,for sure

  20. So people don't really give ya'll a whole lot of crap? I would just like to live (if I move there) in a place where they don't bother you about the dogs. Yes I will fight BSL for sure if I hear about it. I will stand up for my rights. I think more people need to too. But it's all personal choice I guess. I may live in a state that prohibits BSL but breed bias is still here but not as bad as in the cities. I live in the suburbs and honestly have never had anyone say anything negative to me or try to avoid me and my dogs on the streets. I'm lucky I guess. I will probably more than likely stay in Texas as long as my boyfriend is happy with his job and we can afford our taxes lol. I guess I just miss the mountains and pretty countryside around Arkansas and some of those ol' laid back country folk in those hills. I guess I've gotten homesick over the last few days. I will say it doesn't seem like they ban/restrict them a whole lot compared to some places. And they don't seem to try to pass a lot of weird anti dog laws. It may just be a blessing in disguise if I end of moving there who knows. Once again I thank everyone who has replied to this post, I appreciate all of your feedback and info, I'm glad I found this forum people are at least kind enough to answer questions like mine.
