do they make any kind of locking collar?? or is there some way i can lock my dogs that nobody can steal em?? i got some ruff looking neighbors moved in down the street, and lately there been cars driving down my dead end road that has no buisness there, creeping by. i've seen people use a chain around the neck with a padlock, but i don't really like that idea too much, so i was wondering if they made some kind of locking collars, or some kind of system.

they dont prevent much, bolt cutters will hack through any chain... they take the chain, theft prove collar and your dog all in about 15 sec. You can dig up any axle easily as well.

There is a special tempered chain that will take way too long for a thief to cut through with a hacksaw, and will make bolt cutters hurt their hands. At the end of the axle weld or bolt a 6 inch "T" on the bottom, and set the thing in concrete. As to the collar, if the dog is grown, and you know where you want it set, take the collar off the dog, close it as if on the dog, and drill a hole through both layers of the collar at the end of the flap. then put collar on dog and put a lock through the hole. They could still cut the collar off, but is hard to do if the dog is active. Make sure you get the locks that are made from tempered steel also. Should have a picture on the package with a pair of bolt cutters with a circle around them and a line drawn through them.
    Cheers!

it's a shame when it comes to a day you have to lock your dogs up, hell i remember 10 years ago i could've left my door unlocked. but now, all the old neighbors are gone, new neighbors move in, and you have to sit in your lawnchair with a 12 gauge, spotlight, and a 12pack. mmmmmmmm beer.....

I dont know where you live, but there have always been, and always will be dog thieves. I guess I dont know of any dogman from 1890's to present day that hasnt had problems with thieves. Kinda like folks say only recent years have people had issues with bulldogs. That is not true either. John Colby wrote a book in '36 about APBT's and he speaks in there several times of how bulldogs and bulldog owners have a bad, unwarranted reputation. Much of the language is echoed today from doggers.

When I lived up in Arkansas there was a kennel not far from where I lived that sported some of "the tightest bred..." which were supposed to be it. Well, he never did have issues with folks trying to steal from him, yet folks were steadily trying to get at mine. Everyone around there said my dogs were currs cause I would join in the local action. Well, years later after I moved, I found out that them bulldogs they was thievin from me was smokin everything around there. Then they would try and breed the dogs to get the same traits, but only ended up with currs, cause they didnt know how I did it. Anyhow, what I am saying is that there have always been lowlife's around, especially if you have something. They was around when the threat of hangin from a tree was there if they got caught, and it is here today, when they would get a medal for thieving one and killing it, like PETA does!
I am glad that one day, all of this will be over with, and there will be no more thieving, backbiting, lieing, cheating..etc.!

Looks like a pair of tin snips would take care of that collar in one snip.

Some things work nice in theory, but in real life it is not a good idea!LOL
Tin snips wont cut the collars I use.

Must be some nice collars that you've got.
But the ones in the above link just look like they are lined with a pipe strap.

I didnt see them till just now. Yea, it looks like the leather would be harder to cut than the strap!

I guess what comes to my mind is that no matter what you do to prevent the theft of your dog, if they really want to take it they will wait for a time and get it. The reason I say this is because it has happened to me and I thought I had everything just right to prevent such from happening. I hate to say it but it does happen. Just ensure that you have the proper papers for your dog, Vet visits, Rabies certificate and some up to date pictures around. I did manage to get mine back and it was because the pictures I had were taken about a week before they were stole. I lost 3 that day and they were all recovered.

I wouldn't believe that one for a minute. Your "friends" are usually the first ones to get you. If not your friends, then it's your friend's friends.

That seems like a fool proof theft prevention scenario. Best advice is not to leave them totally unsupervised for long predictable periods of time. Usually the thief knows someone you do.

I know the feeling. In the past two months we have had some dope head lookin mofo's move into the duplex across the street ,and its got me kind of worried. They're all the time asking for shit, ask to use the phone,do I want my grass cut(When its very obvious we have a lawn guy allready),do I know what time the bus comes down the street,All sorts of stupid crap.I really think they're just trying to feel around and see what goes on around our house. The only good thing is when they see the Sheriff's department cruiser parked at the house,if it werent for that I'm sure they would've tried something by now. These damn dope fiends will steal anything.Have you thought of getting a guard dog to guard your bulldogs?Lots of people with yards have them. The breeder I got my dog from has a twelve foot fence around her yard and her kennels in a locked garage but people still managed to get some of her pups a couple times. She went to the humane society, got a GSD and hasnt had anymore problems since.Thats why I got my Aussie,I thought he would at least bark,(because we all know what kind of guard dogs bulldogs make)but ,he is just as obliviously happy when he sees a stranger. Now we are thinking about a rottie, and if that doesnt work,I getting rid of all of them and getting some poodles!LOL.
