Pissed me off..

Ok so Folsom was due at the vet today for his full body eyeballs to asshole exam.. I go back to pick him up and the vet tells me "Folsom is very very skinny.. you need to watch that and start feeding him more." like the woman is scolding me or something.. I tell her I feed him exactly what the bag says to feed him which is 2 cups a day.. When I brought him in last time he weight 55.70 lbs.. and that was on 4 cups a day.. so now a few months later he weighs in at 52.00 lbs. I also explain that I am getting him ready to show him at the ADBA show in Nov.. so now she tells me "Well there was a study done where they found that a dog that was a little leaner than 'ideal' lived longer than one that was of average weight." I look at her and ask... so then why are we having this discussion? She just stands there and blinks at me like a little bubble head and smiles and wishes me a nice day...

I wouldn't worry to much about a vet saying your dog is too skinny. Every year I take my dogs to the vets, in the spring when I am conditioning them for the spring ADBA shows, and every year the vet said my dogs look "a little emaciated". I say as long as you are happy about how your dogs look that is all that really matters and not any vets or neighbors opinion.

 

We both know those vets (at that place and all of the others of that name) are retarded! LOL

She was probably a Petco certified Vet...inservice trained...

Folsom looks great. People are so infatuated with having these fatasses now. I guess being yoked is "too skinny" these days. Do what you do NC.

Sounds like it's time for a new vet. What an Idiot. You have done a great job with Folsom. I hope I make it to the show to meet the both of you!

it's all about finding the right vet. it's definitely not easy. some are kind of understanding, most aren't. and then you get the ones that take you in through the back door, lol. those are the hard to find ones.

 

I'd say change vets. Your dog looks great!!!!!!!!

I love my vet for the reason that every time I bring in my dogs he says they look awesome! He knows what a real APBT should look like. He is always happy to see me and always complements on the health of my animals. Even my cat LOL! He's probably just happy that my animals aren't fat.
