Bumps everywhere!?

One of my dogs has raised patches of hair all over her back. Looks like she has small bumps under the skin and keeps scratching at her back. She has not gotten into anything that I know of, and the wierd thing is my mom is taking her dog to the vet today for the same thing. We do not live together but the dogs have come into contact with eachother this past week.

    Any ideas?

Ok got some antibiotics for her. Seems it is an infection from rolling in something... something very dead.

My little pup has them too, they are from flea bites. She has a slight allergy to flea bites. Some dogs get them worse than others. Her sister dosn't get them at all, neither do my other dogs.

Ok heres what the vet thinks. The dogs rolled over something dead that was covered in ants and that they are ant bites. Fleas are also a possibility with all the damn stray cats here. I swear for every one of them I dispose of ten more appear. I have my work cut out for me.

I gave her a nice bath, benadryl, and her antibiotic and the bumps are not nearly as raised. She looks much better!

My China and Tinker had the same kind of thing happen when they were eating Nutro Lamb Meal and Rice. Within two days of being off it, they disappered.

some Bendyrl might help her out as well if it was an allergic reaction to something my little one had some bumps like that from getting into something gave her anti-biotics and bendryl and it cleared up.

prednisone works good too...you still have to get rid of the fleas and or ants other wise you will still have the same problem..frontline drops work pretty good.

  12. I had a friend feeding the same and using "Nuvet" suppliment and I guess the excess Complex Protiens between the two were giving him "pimples" as well. Switched the food to a lower protien food and took away the supp and it cleared up.

Ammo got bumps all over him at the show in Texarcana last weekend. When we got home I gave him some bendryl (sp?) and they cleared up. Turns out he was allergic to the stuff in the show ring, it looked alot like pine hampster bedding. It gave my allergies heck too.

  14. if it's flea bites your dog needs to be wormed for tapes. they need to be done regularly, but especially now.

it could be folliculitis which explains why the benadryl is helping. prednisone would be more in order to completely clear it up though. still need to find the source of the problem though.

Loki had a bad outbreak of hives when she got stung by a wasp. The vet had to give her steroids to make it go away. Glad your dog is feeling better. :)
