Dog parks and APBT

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by Rhinna13021, Jan 2, 2010.

  1. wanted to add that i dont like dog parks in general. You may have the best behaved dog but there is always that idiot who brings their crazy untrained dog to the park.

of course a pitbull can go to a public park. Thats like just admitting the media are right. Pitbulls and even matchd dogs can still be dog friendly. Its down to the dog it self and owners you cant asume every dogs the same.

just something people have to realize as a apbt owner they dont need to be loose with other dogs.

  4. i'm not saying you cant. You can but I wouldnt only because of other owners. Say something happens another dog starts it, I know who will get the blame my dog would only because of the breed.

I also have enough common sense to know my dog cant go to the dog park. Rihanna reacts to other dogs. So she is NOT a good fit for a dog park.

Now if Moostafa was still alive, he'd be okay at the dog park.

Now the GSD i fostered. wouldnt be a good dog for a dog park, he was too scared and would bite out of fear.

a poodle I fostered from a puppy mill was nuts definately couldnt go to a dog park.

Now I am using them as examples. i had good foster dogs and nutty foster dogs.

we dont have a dog park here, the spca doesnt approve of them due to most owner's inability to train their dogs and to even keep them up to date with shots.

Now if we go back to a APBT at the dog park-even if its a little dog that starts biting at the bigger dog it will be the bigger dog that gets blamed. Its not just the APBT, its rotties, dobies, gsds. Its okay for people to bring crazy untrained ankle biters to the park but bring a big dog and people act like you are bringing a loaded weapon to the dog park.

ITS these owners who do not properly train their dogs that make a bad name for the breed. the ones who know nothing about the breed. Who probably would panic if there was a fight wouldnt know what to do. Who prob. never researched the breed.

**I'm having a bad day today, what I'm think and what I am typing so not matching. Plus after just seeing a guy whooping the hell out of his puppy, ugh....i hate people seriously i do.***

An APBT in a dog park is a accident waiting to happen. Why take the chance? Why have a accident and give the media more ammo?

  6. thats what i was trying to get across.

  9. Its these people who insist that you can train the DA out of a APBT. Even the lady i adopted rihanna from insists it can be trained out of them.

Honestly, I wouldn't take ANY breed of dog to a dog park.
There is a HUGE field beside our dog park (,our dog park which you have to pay to get into and the dog park is nothing but a fenced in area, trees, water fountains and benches) so I usually go late in the day and take my non game bred pit bulls there to play and be social in the field on the leash. One day my 11 month old was running around off leash, (she broke the leash but knows proper commands) so she was running around and went up to the dog park fence and a like three labs came up and started trying to fence fight with her and there owners didn't care AT ALL. I called her back and we went home, but I thought what if we would have been inside the dog park, it would have been my "vicious pit bulls fault"' for the attack. It just takes one person to bring an aggressive dog in their to start a problem and then the whole dog park is fighting and it would be blamed on the only APBT there.

doggie parks in my opinion should be Built 10 miles aways from your city with only way to get to it would be either walking or biking (NO VEHICLES ALLOWED. This way by the time the owner and pooch reach the park, fido would be too pooped to cause any havoc, dog and owner will have a better bond and alot of behavior issues would be solved :D:D:D:D:D.

Requirement to access a doggie park should be an 8 weeks class on Dog park Ettiquette.

    Rules should be enfored,
First violation!!!!!! owner should be shot right on the spot.

All B.S. aside I dont go or take any of my dogs to the doggie park PERIOD!!

Dogs are not the problem, the problem is people, an APBT in a park with responsible owners is no problem. All dog leashed and just walking, no accident could happen, but this is very strange since some people just take the dog off leash and talk to other people without taking care or being responsible of their dogs.

I personally walk dogs on park because i live on capital city and i just cant take them to the forest on week days.

Your dog could be very well behaved, it's the idiot owners that are not paying attention to their dogs because they are yapping on their cell phones, or their dogs are loose. It is an accident waiting to happen. Why take the chance. The pit bull will always be blamed.

Also, you don't know what parasites your dog could catch because other owners do not give their dogs the appropriate shots, etc.

    LMAO:D

Personally,I wouldn't take any dog to a dog park. But the APBT has it's own problems with dog parks.First it's a breed trait to be DA.Even if it's leashed, another dog can come up to it while you have it on a leash.Second, even if the dog isn't DA,if a loose dog comes up and gets in a fight with it,guess who's dog will liable to be at fault.Never mind, the potential for disease, worms and who knows what else your dog could pick up there.I'm not a big fan of taking dogs to the park.

I let my friend talk me into going to the dog park once, big mistake. She kept saying "oh come on it won't be crowded" and then whenever I brought up the whole Pit Bull thing she would come back with "Oh Jake is probably a mix anyway he gets along with other dogs." We were there and hour with no problems, then a lady came in with a unaltered male Malamute, the dog went straight over to my dog Jake being dominant and the lady kept saying to me "oh no there gonna play leave then alone" whenever I went to get Jake away and she was physically blocking me from getting my dog. I was like "Lady your dumb, get away from me! I've been in a dog training club for 10 years. They aren't playing. " Not even 10 seconds later they were fighting. This dog was freakin huge, I under estimated Jake I thought he was gonna get his little 60 pound ass beat. He held his own with that dog no problem until I could get him off. The Malamutes fur was every where and the big tough guy went limping off to to gate crying. Jake only had a small tear in his ear. Never going near a dog park again.

while i have taken my APBT's to the dog park im going to stop unless there is a lake, swiming is their biggest distraction from other dogs so they ignore them if theres water around.

I take my 6 mnth old girl to the dog beach & i let her off, shes REALLY PEOPLE FRIENDLY & DOG FRIENDLY. She knows when to come when i call her, Shes only had one bad interaction out of the many times at the beach & that was with a english bulldog, Even though my girl didnt start it the other owner still took responsibility of her dogs actions & didnt place the blame on my girl. Well my girl was under this ball of fat and was yelping her head off, the other dog had my girl by the ear, but her is algudz, shes just afraid of dogs that growl when they are playing now & even more submissive to big dogs. But i think the only reason y people are so friendly to her & patter her all the time, is cos they think shes a Staff. lol WHAT THEY DONT KNOW WONT HERT THEM!..LOL..I have told a few people at the beach that shes a pitbull & they are so shocked that shes so friendly & playful.
