They are zip tied (heavy duty ties that are checked daily and only on the inside fencing.) The outside fence has metal ties doubled up.

Crisis, your right, negligence and not checking things regularly would allow an accident to happen not chain link, many people use the same readily available commercial kennels without the extras I put in, without incident. The dogs their talking about arnt the norm. Been into the dogs half my life and have never had an escapee. You start them young in one and most don't fight it.

Saiy, your right to, metal ties would be better but when I use them originally they looked like shit and left sharp edges all over the place so I found some metal c-crimps and the tool to close the crimps. Just haven't had the time to redo it yet.

They can easily dig under them too, they just don't seem to ever do that. Like I said, I'd prefer chain set ups myself, the Kennels are more appealing to the general public's point of view.

I give you another 6 to 8 months and you wont be having those 2 males together anymore.

HHHMMMM so basically you saying that you used the metal tie wires first but then took them off and replaced them with the zip ties because they looked like shit and left sharp edges?

When you say MANY PEOPLE use those type of weak gauge chainlink kennels without incident, are you talking about people who own Bulldogs or other breeds of dogs?

Plus another flaw on those commercially made kennels besides the low gauge chainlink fencing is that they use the low/weak gauge "gate clips" that hold the chainlink fencing together on the posts, those gate clips can bend easy if the dog starts tugging on the chainlink fence and once those come off dog can squeeze through and escape. I would use Brace/Tension bands instead of those weak gauge gate clips.

    I ment people with bulldogs.
( I know what a bulldog is, I didn't get into these dogs yesterday). Funny, we kept a real good daughter of Vietnam's ch spike as well as a 1x son of scooters ch emmit this way and never had an issue.
They don't chew, pull on the fencing or dig so I, as in me personally, have not had a problem, EVER. Not to say it couldn't happen, just that it don't.

i tried the kennel thing myself, but was constantly having to maintain it. i feel for ya AGK, that setup isnt ideal but youre doing what ya can. privacy fence and chainspots would be a solution....i dont doubt you or your dogs, but i really am suprised you havent had trouble with dogs wrecking those kennels

AGK your stuff looks okay in my books! Most important they looks healthy and well kept. I keep some of my dogs on chains during the day and in crates in my basement during the night. That way no punks steal your dogs!

I did have problems with Redrum at first. He would pull the door fence corner up but since he was on a chain still he couldn't go anywhere. Once I put the fencing on the inside too he stopped all together messing with the fencin

The kennel he is in is an AKC premium kennel by the way. Got it from our tractor trailer supply.

In your above post you said you personally have not had a problem EVER, yet in this post you said you had a problem with Redrum? hhhhmmmmm lol....So basically you just admitted that if your Redrum dog wasnt on a chain , he could of escaped the kennel right? Wouldnt that have taught you a lesson about those weak kennels?

Dont know what a AKC kennel is but if its anything like those kennels in the pics , its weak. Minimum Recommended chainlink gauge size to contain a bulldog in a kennel without a chain is 9 gauge, 8 even better and 6 is the best.

For someone who said they didnt get into these bulldogs yesterday your way of thinking by your comments lack alot of experience or reasoning behind them lol.

But hey what do I know Im a nobody that doesnt know anything lol.

bulldogs that are put in kennels as pups and have time spent with them will most likely not have a problem dealing with those kennels and will also most likely not chew dig or try to escape. can it happen sure but like AGK said looking after the yard and keeping up with the kennels will keep things secure.

  15. i put my last male in a kennel the little bugger always got out of it i couldnt figure out how he was doing till i caught him he was jumping easy 7 foot up the fence then climbing the last bit we brought him in and he figured the door handles out he never got out the house but he did raid the fridge and kept on waking us up so chain was the only option with him we nicknamed him houdini they can deffinately be escape artists unsupervised chain is best imo

All dogs are different and if you have some type of dog sense you can choose what works best for you..
I have older dogs that dont have any intentions to see if the grass is greener and are perfectly content
in their rinky dink kennel... Young dogs have differnt tendicies and should be treated like a teenager driving for the first time, unpredictable and need to be groomed and managed properly...
Wreck loose dogs should be confined properly and not allowed the chance to break out of a questionable kennel set up... Evan the best heavy duty kennels with the best roof and flooring can be penetrated by a devoted Individual...
A good set up in my eyes caters to the Individual and the younger & dumber they are, the better the set up should be and at the oppisite end of things I see no problem with a dogs like grandchampions Hank and IBM running the yard loose breeding to whoever come in heat... I think the Hank dog lived a full life that he deserved and is to be admired...
