i think the name of the thread is self explanatory.. my pup was 5 lbs when i got her shes now about 4 months and 20 lbs what were some of yours?

expect about 40 lbs. general rule is twice the weight at 4 months. its not an exact science by any means but it will give you an idea generally

My pup bogart was 20 lbs @ 5 1/2 months old I haven't weighed him recently He's a little over six months now. He is going through that funny stage though were he starting to grow upwards. Like DP said typically you take the weight at 4months and double it to give you an estimate of how big they will be full grown. They usually start to fill out more between 2-3 years old.

haha cool i thought she was jus gonna be a small one about 30 lbs, since she was bare 5 lbs as a small pup her brother was a good 8 or 9 lbs

She might have been a runt? But either way 40lbs full grown is a nice ideal size for a bulldog IMO... Some can be a little bigger depending on what family of dogs they stem from.

Just out of curiosity, where did that 4 month rule stem from? There are many breeds of dogs at 4 months old that aren't even 1/3 of what they will weigh at maturity and that breaks down into further variances depending on the dog. The way I was told was to look at the size of the sire and dam, the females should be around the same size as the dam while the males should be around the same size as the sire. That's the way I was told.

My Lil Boom was @8 lbs at 8 wks and now he is a whopping 40 lbs at 5.5 months old. He is growing and growing and growing. He has some Mayday in him so maybe he is gonna be a throwback. Heres he is. [IMG]

When I got my dog (mix) at 10 weeks, he was about 5-6lbs and was all bone and head.
Now he weighs about 100lbs. :) At four months I would say he was about 40-50lbs, so the rule of thumb most people go by seems accurate to me.

I think the best way to predict how large your dog's going to get would be to just chart his height and weight gain per month. When they go through that awkward lanky stage, it is pretty predictable since one month they are going to go through a growth spurt and then the next month, they are going to gain weight. After that awkward stage ends, your dog will mostly just begin to fill in with very little gains in height.
