Dude you're not talking to a pup here. I breed only show animals period. None of the "ifs" or "maybes". My brood stock is my show stock and vice versa.

"I don't like to sell animals in the first place" so which is it because on one side of your mouth you post " clip them & sell off to the public as "pet quality"? been around long enough to know a unsatisfactory gamebred cull shouldn't ever be let out in the general public. i don't give two shit how good you say your dogs are.

There are ways of culling that are not against the law.I would never sell a dog clipped or not that does not fit the breed standard. All breeds were created through this method (culling) and we have tons of AKC registered unhealthy muts to show what happens when we forget this rule.A dog that is clipped can still be bred if the surgery is reversed. When I was a kid a man I new had dalmatian pups and he was going to cull the ones that were born with spots.I being a kid tried to talk him into giving me the spotted pup and he refused and culled them. Now that I am a adult I understand that the breed itself is more important than any one dog.

I can tell that I'm dealing with greenhorns here. But I'm going to leave this alone. I don't know what bulldog man that would but a clipped dog. But you guys don't read between the lines well. I'm not going to talk stupid over a board but you can if you like.....

This is about the 4th or 5th time I have posted this. I think I just got tired of saying where I copied it from. Can you post a link to all these post where I am selling pups? I would love to see them. There is a couple people selling pups off a dog of mine they bred to but it isn't me all over the net selling pups. i did breed a cold male and everyone that is getting pups off of him or that have bred to him know he is cold. I tell it like it is. I stated that this was a good rule of thumb to follow if you are breeding dogs. If you vere away from this every now and then, you will need to have the experience to bend the rules a bit. I get tapped out maybe once a year in a tournament. So, while all you couch quarterbacks are sitting around giving coaching advice, I am actually out doing it.

You gain experience from years of listening and learning from people that are better then you. Then one day on the advice of your mentor you start trying things on your own. Then through trial and error, you develope your own style of doing things.

I feel like no matter how long I've been doing something and it doesn't even have to do with dogs. You should always be a student. I learn new things everyday about everything. You can't let things go in one ear and out the other. Especially on the computer, you have no idea who is typing behind that screen name. After some time listening and reading their posts you can tell if they are full of shit or might know something.:)

    some more on breeding lol....

The dumbest farmer sometimes grows the biggest potatoes. And it's true !! Why ?? It's easy. Our not so well informed beginner buys a line bred cross female from a breeder. Now he asks himself, or his friend, "What good stud dog should I breed to ?", and our friend decides for himself or on the advise of his friend says "Lets breed so & so's dog because he's a hell of a dog and he throws good dogs:"
A star is born !! Why ?? Because the female was crossed to the stud and they were both carrying the same latent genetic make up and it clicked. Our beginner rises to instant stardom. The reason for the click is called “HYBRID VIGOUR”. So, to be a successful breeder and not know a hell of a lot and not waste your life doing research, simply get a good bred Bitch and cross her to the best producing male around. If you raise them and feed them and care for them right you are going to get some good ones. But, don't try to start a Strain with out a little research, because a Strain demands Inbreeding and Inbreeding demands, a close examination of each and every dog and all of his or her traits. Because, if you allow a single fault to be bred into your line thru Inbreeding it is there to stay. If you make an excuse for your favorite dog and use him instead of his better brother you are not going to improve, and every breeding you make you have to make with an objective in mind. If you settle for less than the objective you set up in your minds eye you've just cheated yourself and weakened your strain.
The one most single important thing is to see greatness when it show’s up. And have the good sense to use it, even if your adversary bred it ! If you have a narrow mind and get Kennel blind you are surely doomed for failure.
Take "Corvino's SHORTY" who can be found in just about every good dog around today. In this pedigree is Inbreeding, Line Breeding and crossing. When, how and why could only be told by each breeder, as his and only his thoughts put the breeding together.
When do you fall heir to the breeding ? When you yourself select the sire and dam for your own reasons, weather everything about the two dogs is compatible or not. Maybe someone just liked the color. Maybe someone liked the color and the papers. Maybe someone liked the color, papers, conformation and the attitude. When you get it all together you will have a Strain. Good or bad they will come true to color, type and attitude. Now we have a basic Strain. How do they act and think, how much air do they have in their tires, how much gas does their tank hold ? What are their faults and what are their redeeming attributes ?
Now get tough with "em" ! We laid the blueprint out and built what we think is a top race car. Lets go to the proving track and see what breaks under stress. Whoops ! We ran out of air. Can we put enough air in through conditioning ? If not we need a better air pump. So we stay in our Strain and find one like ours with better air and breed it in. Eureka ! We've got one with air ! Damn, he's got a broken heart. He's got air but his gas pump shut down on us. We lost heart. We still like the color, conformation, etc. in our Strain. We just need a little more heart. Damn, the years slipping away, I'm getting gray. What the hell is going wrong ? They sure looked good 20 years ago when I Started, but they still have faults. Why ? Because you Started in the wrong place, and became a breeder before you knew anything about it. You liked the color and you forgot the rest. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
Right here is where many a man has fallen ! What does he say ? How does he rationalize his failure ? He's damn sure not going to blame himself !
" Hell, they couldn't take the inbreeding !"
    WRONG !!
He couldn't make the proper selection.
"Hell, it's all luck ! Good dogs are where you find them."
    WRONG !!
The reason the good ones are where you find them are because of the dumb farmer. There are several dumb farmers who do well in varying degrees from year to year. These men buy a Champion and breed a bunch of crosses. Some are bound to come good. 10% makes the dumb farmer a hell of a good breeder.
The good breeder is looking at every trait there is about a dog and matching them from A to Z before the mating is made. He is always improving a little because the stud or Bitch is a little better than the one before. In the fine print is the ??????

  19. I agree the bloodline and the history speaks for it self thats why i dont own a dog with out any offical paper work 6 -gen etc. Real Pit lovers know this others will go out and buy a $50 dog with no papers wonder why the dog may disappoint. It's true papers dont always make the dog but at least you know what made the dog ahahahah?
