Ya, I know. Patron is only 20" tall and 55lbs, and I am feeding him 4 cups a day. He is like trying to keep weight on a crack head. He spends his days doing laps in his kennel or running the fence line guarding against stray cats. If I don't let him run, he goes stir crazy and chews on the bars of his kennel.
That stupid blue show dog is more trouble than all my other dogs put together!

    LOL

Some are hard to keep weight on. Up his food and see. He is a nice looking dog. I bet you here the same thing I do about my blue dog. "Damn he looks good......for a Blue dog" LMAO

most beautiful blue ive ever seen.i dont really like blues until i seen this guy.wow great work keeping him in shape.thats how a pit should look like.right on man.

  11. Patron is a handsome dog, and not just "for a blue." He's beautiful, regardless of color. :)

LMAO it was a joke. I here it all the time about my blue dog and I find it hilarous. While yes he is a handsome boy. His hip bones should not be showing like that. She stated it is hard to keep weight on him. But proper conditioning you should not see hipbones.

No that is not how a "pit" should look. That is not in proper condition. There is an underlying issue why it is hard to keep weight on him.

im sure ultimate k9 knows how to feed her dogs.

That is fine. But by the looks of that dog it needs to be fed a bit more if he is burning that much energy. Or look for an underlying issue. Come one. I guess seing that much hipbone is a good thing. LMAO

I am not downing her. She does great things with her dogs. And has some great dogs.

no, youre ASSUMING she doesnt know how much to give a dog food wise.

and there are a few dogs with piss poor confo that can show anything. (that was towards your conditioned dogs dont show hip bones comment, mind you this has nothing to do with her dog cause it doesnt have bad confo lol)

The more I look at his pics, the more I see that something is up. And I don't think it's really a weight issue. Because if you look at him from the last rib forward, he looks fantastic, well-muscled, and healthy. Nice lat line, shoulders, and neck. But the back half of him looks weak. Lack of appropriate musculature to cover the hips and spine, and his thigh muscles aren't up to par either compared to the rest of him. He's just very unbalanced and I don't think it's from poor nutrition or lack of adequate food intake. And if he's as active as has been stated, then his back end should be very nice. But it's not. He's a beautiful dog, regardless, and I know Ultimate probably takes fantastic care of him as with all the rest of her awesome dogs. But you're right. There may be an underlying issue.

His back end reminds me of the dogs from my tech days that had nerve dysfunction in the rear, or of elderly dogs that have begun to lose muscle mass due to age, disease, or lack of activity.

I'm not saying that anything has to be wrong with him, could just be genetics as well, and I'm certainly not downing him as an animal or downing Ultimate's care abilities, I'm just saying that is does seem very odd for him to look that unbalanced from back to front. And of course, it's sometimes hard to tell things just from looking at a picture, but that's my take on it. No disrespect intended.

Here is another "blue" to ride on. lol Its hard to get a good pic that shows her color. The light has to be just right.
