Would really appreciate info on a pit dog from the black country, the dudley terrier who had a red nose hence the name dudley. Could this dog be where the old family red nse pit bull originates from. Please any pics would be spot on. Perry

fyi- dudley nose is not red, it is pink (i.e. lacking any pigment)

Don I always thought the dog got its name from the town of Dudley in the midlands, could be wrong though.

The original Dudley terrier is a liver coloured dog with a tan coloured nose, not pink. Old family reds and numerous pit bulls can trace a descendant back to these and Irish bull terriers. There was also a Scottish dog called the Blue Poll, later corrupted to the Blue Paul.

a dudley nose is caused by 2 parents that carry and make a bb gene the pup above has a dudley nose liver in colour and his parents and ancestors are all black pigment but the parents were carryiers of the gene and produced him and his sister that are both dudley nose.this picture is his belly sister who is black pigmented

    it's been said before
dogs were named by the work they did , the place they lived, or the ppl that kept them

bulldog = starttons theory on the origin of the apbt
dudley = a place in england where a strain was kept
staffordshire = a place in england where a strain was kept
westall = a family that kept a strain
blue poll/red smutt = a strain kept in scotland
    irish bulldog = self explanitory

all strains of the one type of dog, just given different names as to the place they lived , the work they did , or the family that kept them
