    yea the longest mine run are 15 feet. with something for long distances cable for definitely be more cost efficient.

    my uncle only used air craft cable on his setups. those have very high readings 7000+lbs and they come w/the plastic lining on them that would last along time and avoid rust. the pulley would run smooth over the plastic covering. you just have to remove the plastic lining were you would fix the clamps. if you look at kershners yard you can see on his cable runs he uses the turnbuckles too. on the outside of his posts there is another line there going into the ground. if it was anything like my uncles who past about 10 years ago that line is ran into a the ground and held there by a ground anchor. the cable there is attached to a heavy duty eye bolt that is ran through the 6x6x8 post. that setup has two strong pulls on each side that will zero out the dogs force on the system. not alot of people like kershner and talk down on him, but his runs are awesome. nicely reinforced runs.

    JT this is what i charged for the last lot i made, you may find cheeper ones that will do the job, these have been maintenance free for quite a few years. like any equipment, just take a look at it and inspect it every time ya feed or check on the dogs. a quick little spray grease on the pulleys will keep them work'n for years.
    you may find some similar but not the same, they're D'S..brand.
    good luck with ya set up, if you have any questions pm me mate, ill be glad to help ya out in any way i can. ive made some drawings of the set up, post sizes, cable, turn buckles, stoppers for cable etc....
    D'S....

    Re: Yard Setups & Concrete? Also barns & cable set ups?

    Price is actually pretty fair,I thought about making my own, but by the time I ran all parts down and went through the hassle of coming up with a decent design and putting it all together,I would probably be well over 200.So i may end up needing a few.But i will definitely be harassing you for info (since you offered lol) when it comes time to do it,don't worry though I'm still closing on the house so it will be a couple months.

    there really isnt nothing to it James T.
    MATERIALS

    (2) 6x6x8 posts or wider diameter posts unless you plan on using a 2 trees. (2)ground anchors for the outside of the setup (4)heavy duty eye bolts 2 for the inside connected to the post and 2 for the outside that connects to the post opposite directions which connects to the jaw of the turnbuckle. (4)high reading jaw&eye turnbuckles 2 for the main run on the inside and 2 for the outside of the set up witch leads to the ground anchor (10) cable clamps (2) 10 ft air craft cables (these go on the outside of the setup connecting to the ground anchor and also connect to the jaw of the turnbuckle witch connects to the eye bolt bolted onto the posts.) .... (1) air craft cable for the run cut at your desired length(FYI say if you cable run is 25ft long make sure to add 4ft of usable cable on each side so you will need 33ft of air craft cable. the extra footage allows you to use the clamps to make a trust worthy connection of both cables.)

    Re: Yard Setups & Concrete? Also barns & cable set ups?

    my fault i wasnt done adding or correcting the confusing parts to this last post of mine. the amount of material needed are corrected on this new post and the info is a bit less confusing. i will not tell you were to get the pulley from because i dont want to knock BEHAVINS hustle. they do look like nicely built equipment. i had experiences with other types of pulleys myself, but his are nice.

    (2) 6x6x8 posts or wider diameter posts put in the ground 3ft. unless you plan on using a 2 trees.

    (22) cable clamps 10 for the inside of the run and 12 for the outside of the set up

    (2)ground anchors for the outside of the setup

    (4)heavy duty eye bolts 2 for the inside connected to the post and 2 for the outside that connects to the post. each eye bolt both inside and outside connects to the jaw of the turnbuckle.

    (4)high reading jaw&eye turnbuckles 2 for the main run on the inside and 2 for the outside of the set up witch connects to the cables witch leads to the ground anchor for the outside of the setup.

    (2) 15ft air craft cables (these go on the outside of the setup connecting to the ground anchor and connect to the eye of the turnbuckle. the turnbuckles' jaw connects to the heavy duty eye bolt that is placed on the posts. 15ft of cable is used because you need 10ft of distance from the post were the ground anchor is placed. this gives you 2.5 ft for each side of the cable to use for security slack were you place the cable clamps ) ....

    (1) air craft cable for the run cut at your desired length(FYI if your desired cable run is 25ft long make sure to add 4ft of usable cable on each side so you will need 33ft of air craft cable. the extra footage allows you to use the clamps to make a trust worthy connection of both cables. whatever length you choose just add the 4ft on each side to use. the last cable clamp can be used as a stopper for the pulley)

    if this helps you great. if not then maybe it will help someone else that is intrested in making a secure cable run. i would hate to see anyone use a petsmart cable run or a petco bought piece of shit run lol.....im thinking Behavins is built somewhat similar but i think his is connected to some trees. im no longer thinking of making a concrete base with all this talk on cable runs. hoped this kind of helped somebody.

    Re: Yard Setups & Concrete? Also barns & cable set ups?

    A=heavy duty eyebolts
    B=6x6x8 posts or any of a wider diameter buried 3ft
    C=jaw and eye turnbuckle(jaw connects to the eyebolt & eye of turnbuckle is connected to the cable)
    D=Heavy duty air craft cable cut at your desired length giving 4ft of extra cable on each side to secure with cable clamps
    E=ground anchor
    F=heavy duty cable approximately 15ft giving 2.5ft of slack on each side to secure cable w/cable clamps.

    cable and pulley should have the same reading of 7000lbs or more.

    That looks about like what I was planing to do where i cant use trees.Except where I'm going the ground is soft,wet,and sandy,so i was gonna use 10' corner post there round(a little smaller diameter than a tele pole) and they won't bow as easy as a square post,and i can put a little more in the ground.I had a 250' tree to tree setup that worked great until a tree fell on it,except the pulley was chezzey,and i didn't really like the lags with the eye holes,so i just used them to hold the cable up while i pulled it tight.But that was just a temp setup to get them off the chain.I'm looking for something a little more permanent this time.

    lol thanks. its the first time i ever tried to draw something up like that. i surprised myself on that one lol. i had fun w/it figured i could probably draw it out in less time than i could explain it. i did it on the paint/drawing program that most computers come with, it took like 5minutes. thanks for the complement. yeah if you could use a longer post it would be better. i have that problem were i live too were the dirt is very sandy. i wouldnt take it any lower than 8ft though 10ft or higher would alow more post to be able to be in the ground. those corner posts sound like a good idea. well good luck

    good description and drawing there HARDLUCK. saved me some typing lol..
    if ya know where to get some good pulleys tell the man. only reason i started making those was because at the time i couldn't find anything, and i don't personally find making things like that difficult, i actually enjoy making stuff. im not here to sell a product lol..so don't think ya going to insult me or something,its just called helping out.

    ziplinegear is were you want to go. they have everything you need that i mentioned on the material list. if you get the trolley there make sure to get the steel ones not the aluminum and also get the swivel they have on their website. if you need a cheap trolley stop you can use a wheel barrel tire as a trolley stop. just drill a hole through it and put it on the line 4-4.5ft away from the post on both sides. this will stop the dog from killing itself in the summer and also make your trolley last 10x longer.
