The best feeling 9mm ive ever shot was a CZ75. I believe its similar to the Browning hipower. If you know a range that rents them, try it out you!

I got a Ruger SR9c and I love it. Shoots real nice, haven't had a problem with it yet ( I've only ran about 1,000 rounds thru it though). I don't like glocks, just personal preference. The Ruger is light, compact with the 17 round clip in and real compact with the 10 round clip and its half the price of some of the other 9mm's mentioned. I'm a lefty so the ambidextrous slide safty sold me on the gun.

One more thing to consider between a Glock and a Sig is the trigger mechanism. You absolutely have to have a good holster with a Glock to carry one safely with a round chambered,I also use holsters with my Sigs but I do on occasion just stuff my P230 into a pants or jacket pocket.I'm willing to do that with a SA/DA trigger but not the Glock's trigger. But with all that said my favorite carry gun is still the Glock 27,so I must not find the Glock's trigger to bad, lol.

My favorite carry is my Glock 23 with trijicon night sights. Most dependable handgun I have ever owned. Second is my USP Combat Tactical .45. Both great guns but the Glock is less than half the price.

the only safety you should need to use is between your ears. glock has it right......there's no reason for carrying a weapon if you have to disengage any form of safety when you actually draw. someone talked about woody's walther pps.......the new ppq is an exceptional piece. it's one of the true DAOs out there; you can rack a round, decock it with a lever and place in your holster. then you just pull the trigger, it cocks and fires, and keeps going bang. my only gripe with walthers and hks is the mag release.

I agree,I have no use for a safety on a defensive firearm. You should be able to just aim and shoot.

    Glock,sig,HK, springfield xd or xdm,
S&W m and p are all gtg imo my
Only advice is to go out and try as
Many handguns as you can then
Decide ! That way you know how
Each feel in hand when being fired
Then you can pick the one that
Feels the best to you ! If you got
$1,000 to spend then you really
    Got alot of options !

I just don't like the grip angle on the Glocks. CZ's are very comfortable in the hand and very reliable. My CZ75 PCR has almost 2000rds without any sort of malfunction. Metal frame is also a plus if its just a range/home defense gun. I like the feel of a steel frame and the weight makes 9x19 feel almost recoil-less.

ok this is what you have to ask your self are you just getting a gun to put in the bed stand or are you really going to use it, my old pistol was a hk 9mm well good gun right ???? shoots good BUT theres the but I needed that sob and I am damn lucky to be alive, I forgot the golden rule on a auto pistol with a hammer ther is a pin well if you let sand dust grim pretty much every thing around me all day if that gets a little stuck guess what dont go bang when you really want it to.,GLOCK or 45 auto, or what I got Iwill never have a pistol not kill what I point it at, I got a damn Ruger 454 caus, Now that bitch goes POW!!!

The CZ75 is also a nice gun, that's the good thing is we can carry whatever suits us best individually.I don't think most people are going to find the 9x19 as a hard kicking round, but everyone has personal choices on grip angle and stuff like that.I'm just glad to see someone trying to decide between a Glock,Sig or etc,(something good at least). Alot of the time you see people online and they are thinking about a Lorcin or Jennings. As far as being a range/home defense anly gun,I think a defensive gun needs to be able to be a CCW piece as well.Since we don't know where we might need it,which the CZ75 PCR definately is a CCW capable gun.One thing I like about the Glocks, they are light weight(I usually carry a G27 usually with a G22 magazine, can even tell it's there after carrying it all day) and I've had guns that wanted to rust if you looked at them nearly,(I loved my Hi Power but it got left home alot for this reason)the Glocks I have sweated on,worked all day in the rain and snow, even went fishing while wearing it and waded the creek with it.It is a tough gun that you don't have to baby around and will most likely be with me in case I need it.
That's an awesome round :) I don't have a revolver chambered for it,but I do have a Rossi M92 chambered for it and I like the round alot for a good all around carry in the truck rifle.

Taurus is 50/50 of u aren't talkin 6 shooters. U either get a Real good one, or one u have to send back multiple times. They have good customer service and will fix your problems but I hear It takes forever to get ur shit back.

Most of all these guns mentioned are reliable. I prefer the 1911 but it's not most reliable. That 1,000 $ is just te beginning before u take it to the smith. If you want one good to go out the box, something else would be better and cheaper on ammo too. Glock is probably the best 600 you will spend.

Or jut get a revolver and half the problems are solved right there, u just gotta learn to shoot one.

doesnt get any better in a 9mm then and H&K sum comp by far the most reliable/quality in a combat pistol 9mm. i prefer a 1911 myself 45acp in either a wilson/les bear/kimber but if those are to large for around 1k kimber makes and ultra carry2 its still a 45acp but smaller then the 1911 while still being by far more acurate then a combat pistol it groups super tight.but most def if u want a 9mm go H&K subcomp ull never need or want another gun unless u upgrade to a 1911.if your in florida u can pm me and ill let you shoot a few to see what u like just pm me.

I didn't shoot the H&K, but I did handle one in a gun shop. It felt very natural in my hand. But I'm in Portland, OR., otherwise, I'd get in touch.
