Dog Food

Discussion in 'Health & Nutrition' started by start2finish, Dec 12, 2012.

  1. More notably, Vets an increase their revenue by usually as much as 35% by pushing certain brands of food, which are subsidized with kick-backs from the manufacturers. This leads to Vets approving of foods they know (....or don't know) are crap, for the sake of profit, but at the expense of your dog. If you walk into a private practice Vet's office and see Science Diet for sale....walk out and find another vet. This vet is after money, and is willing to jeapordize your pets' health to get more of it.

  2. What in the world are you talking about ???

I don't think feeding a dog a good kibble like taste of the wild or orijen is like fast food. If you feed crap kibble with the main ingredient being corn, then I would agree. I feed my dogs taste of the wild and raw and they look and act great.

@ okcdogman and JDll i agree.although I only feed raw now.
@ Iverson by your logic u saying a person who eats Mcdicks twice a week is as unhealthy as someone who eats that shit everyday. That dont really sound logical to you do it?

  6. People asking for opinions get opinions. Who am I ??? Nobody. So.....Who are you to advise feeding both? See how that works? I don't need to provide credentials to anybody when someone is asking for advice and opinions on an open forum. If you've ever fed raw before (exclusively raw) then you would understand how a dog's body goes through a detox period when they shed their bodies of all the junk they've been getting through traditional kibble diets. I call this Cannon-Ass. Once that period is over, you're able to physically SEE the positive differences in your dog's overall health, energy, and well-being. With that knowledge, in my opinion, it is NOT advisable to then go back to feeding your dog the same crappy kibble and all the negative residuals which come along with that kibble. If you're feeding raw, then it is apparent that you recognize the short-comings and failures with most kibble. How then, would one justify adding that back into a quality diet? Even further, if you want to talk about supreme-quality kibbles, then you're going to be talking about foods that cost around $2.00 per pound of kibble. If you've already recognized the benefits of RAW and are feeding it, then you've already experienced the much lower price tag associated with feeding it. Now, armed with that knowledge as well, how do you justify feeding a combination of the two diets?

  7. No, I'm not saying that at all. Obviously, someone who eats McDonalds 7 days a week is going to be worse-off than someone who eats it 3 times a week. I'm talking about performance dogs, so you need to compare it to performace humans. Pick your poison....body-builders, long-distance runners, mixed martial artists, etc.....hell, even just an everyday Joe who's trying to eat as healthy as possible -- I'm saying that taking the time/effort/money to eat supremely healthy and clean for half of the week is pretty much un-done and wasted by eating McDonalds the other half.

  8. Obviously, you'd recieve the most benefit from eating clean for the entire timeframe, and therefore reaching your goals faster and in-full.

    MY ADVICE STANDS -

...Either chose to feed kibble,... which can be done cheaply at the expense of your dogs' health, or very expensively with improvements to your dogs' health. OR chose to feed a Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet at a much lower expense and set your dog up for the best posible overall health and well-being that a proper diet/nutritional plan can provide.

That's my advice. Take it or leave it, but don't try jumpin' in my ass for giving it. :ummm:

There is that video I been waiting to see. I never seen someone catch a brown easter egg in a ss food bowl.
Also like how you got the scale out and really broke it down.
I usually only soak the kibble if i add something. There has been a lot of research on dog diet, a lot on here also, and the results are about the same every time. Which ever you prefer, please by all means, feed your dogs as you will. To act like the quality kibbles are not credible enough to keep up with the raw, you are quite simply wrong. Everyone does not have the time or resource that the next guy does. Its not what you feed. Its knowing your dog and where the dog should weigh.
    Would you agree?
Clearly from historical note, there have been some highly accomplished dogs overcoming many obstacles on diets comprised of way less than even the worst kibble of today. Did see where vets dont typically know much about nutrituon. For the most part unless you find one that suites your needs as an owner. Have to search for good vets like good breeders.lol.
Now - I have fed strictly raw in the past and high quality kibble. I find that as long as you are feeding correctly, and not cutting too much or over doing anything, you can get the same results. EVERY DOG IS DIFFERENT. They all condition different. Depends on age also, because weight tends to fluxuate at times, correct?
products and prices may vary, please call a doctor if you have any severe weight gain or thoughts or suicide.
    :)

Reid skipper then you know how to feed kibble the right way..Most of the time WE did not always HAD Red Mills!!. as we had to imported it as regulair custumors. and that was hard to do so, AND ecspensif as wel.. Taxes where high and there was NO european union that made it cheap... at that Time the best we could get was the(old) formula of Eucanuba wich was the best of the rest!! and red mills did not have the Xell at that time... Today Eucanuba is way off quality wize... Red Mills Xell is superior to those brands.. and sins resendly we have The Gain brand as wel . we are just feeding it now and it looks promising!! especialy the Record breaker and there Puppy kibble. More dogs are going to be used in you tube video,s to show of varius Brands of dry Kibble fed the right way. to compleatly Redicule those BS raw meat diet claims about how bad Kibble is ..
