I am supposed to pick up my new baby this coming Saturday. It will be 6 weeks on Friday. The current owner just informed me that the papers haven't arrived yet. Is it normal for them to take this long? What do I need to do to ensure that it has been registered and that I will actually receive them?

it depends on when he sent them in. all you can do is play the waiting game to see if he gives you the papers or not. i would never pick up a pup/dog with out all the proper paperwork. good luck with the pup

I'm new to this situation, my others have came with papers but I also bought them at around 10 weeks. Is it possible to get copies of the sire and dam's pedigree and have them sign the papers for single registration when I pick up the dog?

i dont think you can do that with ADBA. now if you go another route (BFKC, AADR, WWDR) you might be able to. your best bet is to ask when the papers will be in and get your pup when he gets the papers so there wont be any problems.

  5. sometimes ADBA does take a while, all depends when they sent off paperwork and did they paper extra for rapid paperwork. just means if breeder pays extra they can get paperwork back in i believe 10 working days. hope it works out for you.

  6. Papers are for peddlers. If your trusting of the breeder and have a good repoire let the pup show its worth then get the papers. If you stay in the dogs long enough you will understand what I mean.

The way I see it - you should get your papers when the money is payed. Some people do make excuses to keep them though. Depends on who you deal with. If you are paying more than 200, you should get some paperwork with the dog.
Not sure how long the ADBA takes to process, but it can not be that long. I usually get my mail from them rather promptly.
like said though..papers do not make the dog. You can have a dog with the best papers and it may not even fully define the breed. you can also get a perfect example from no paperwork at all. Depends on who you are buying the dog from.
paperwork is a must for me, because I would likely already know how the dog is bread before getting the dog.
If the paperwork dont verify and the dog does not match..keep your money.
If you have an honest person, there is no way buying a pup will be anything but a great experience.

I wrote this in a northern discussion but I believe it needs to be sead here

A lot of u people kill me with all this (paper this paper that) 100years ago there were called the bull and terrier with means the games bulldog was bree to the games terrier, to make what we have today I have yet toknow a breed that didnt hang papers from Colby all the way to Boudreaux. In less you were there for every breeding for the last 5 generations u dont know what u got. Hell T.G. could tell u he has a litter of pups up for sale for $1500 and it's line breed Frisco, the paperwork has chinaman and Frisco all over it. But u will never know what the fuck u have in less its DNA tested. If the temperament is right if the gameness is right if it fits the standard for the breed guess what! U got a pitbull. In less these folks including me on here are going to pay your vet bill, pay for your dog food, give u a ride to the dog show. Then who gives a shit what thay think. you are the one that needs to be happy with hat u have, if your dog has some JR in it hen guess what u just tapped back in to your ancestry.

You'll have to wait a few more weeks once you do the transfer of ownership unless you pay to expedite the process as I'm sure you know. Be patient and worry about caring for your pup; some folks like to have something to a document to refer to and there's nothing wrong with that.

  12. I agree wanting paper work is not a bad thing. I mean breeders use the blood line and parents stick, etc to sell the dogs, so if they throw it out there why not ask the same? In the end papers are just that. If u have a good dog and put in the time with the pup then that should be good enough

Yes you can do that you will have the breeder fill out the single registration app you get from the ADBA website and there will be a spot for you to also fill out plus 3 pics of dog. Do that for For your reinsurance you get your paper work. It does take time 6-8 weeks for the papers. The breeder can't send away for the litter until there born.

I myself would wait untell the pup turns 8 weeks to pick him up. I agree papers don't make the pup but the pup could grow an make the papers worth having. Good look with everything .

Not only do i want the papers but i would also like to see the 2 stuck in a photo...it shouldn't be 2 much to ask for...its not about trust its about knowing....i don't buy a car without the carfax either...unless ofcourse i truly know about it....normally friends don't ask 1000$ + or whatever for a pup...its free, so a top notch kennel should know if there selling the pup...most people want paperwork....that being said no the paperwork want make the dog....so make the dog ....u probably still want get them....
Again we know that 2 buyers of the same litter will have different dogs in the end of the breeding directions etc...nothing wrong with having it registered....while the other may say the heck with it....

  18. BFKC will need a breeders signature or over the phone confirmation that the breeding took place. The only registry that registers dogs with no breeder signature or proof is AADR, they would register a skunk as an APBT if you send them the money lol.

  19. I would at least get the Sire and Dams registration numbers for piece of mind, and for if you have to try to register the pup yourself with a different registry. I prefer ADBA, but some of the best dogs I ever had couldn't read, and didn't know if thier grandfather was a bad ass or not, or what registry they were from. The just went on being the bulldogs they wanted to be.

Do get the registration number for both parents. If the seller can't produce that, then walk away and chalk it up as a lesson in buying Bulldogs.
