How common is it for show pitbulls to be game

By Show, I also mean everyday petbulls (BYB) owned by people and also Showbred pitbulls. Is it a common thing for one of these dogs to somehow inherit the rare trait of gameness. I understand even among the tightly bred gamedogs kept by Dogmen gameness is still something which is somewhat hard to find, so I understand how hard it would be for your average pitbull to possess the trait of gameness. Still, I ask the question to those with knowledge on this breed, is it even possible for you average BYB pitbull or show dog to some how inherit gameness from a very distant ancestor.

I don't know what you're talking about. I've searched this board for questions such as my own, and came up empty, therefore I took the initiative and posted my question. If you're not interested or ignorant on what it is that I'm asking, then why bother posting?

It isn't "COMMON" for dogs to be truly game....Period. But if it isn't your priority in all your breedings, it becomes even less common. Also period.

Alright, I'll take that, but gameness is a genetic trait, is it not? So, what I was wondering is (like albinism in humans etc) how common is it for a dog not bred for gameness but of pitbull ancestry to be born with the unique trait of gameness?

Seems like you are confusing DA with Gameness. Any mutt can attack another dog for any reason but still not be game. Any bully bred dog should be treated as if it will fight.

Its even less common than it is for people who actually breed specificlly for the trait. There is no numbers or statistics to show you on the subject.

Nah, I understand the difference between dog aggression and gameness. I understand the difference between even high prey drive/high drive and gameness. So to those who read this, have you ever come across or heard about a 'petbull' with the rare trait of gameness?

I've owned a few. I once paid $1500 for one I had no idea how he was bred. He was one of the gamest once I've ever owned.

Was he from a Game yard, a Bark yard breeder (Or shelter) or a show breeder?

.....ok..ok...show dogs are bred jus for that.=show....is it poss there could pop up a odd game one...yeah why not.......people these day's,, just don't breed for gameness alone...there is a-lot more than that needed to-day......????????????????

Ya may think a lot more is needed these days, but without gameness, all those other nice traits become less meaningful, or even meaningless. Gameness. Then let all other things come as they may. Anything else is the cart before the horse, and a waste as generations go by.

I guess gamest in "show" ain't game no more. I like a lot of ADBA dogs. I don't know how game some are but they for sure want to get at it.

to answer your question the answer is yes & no.... could you possibly have a modern backyard/petbull dog that inherited a combination of genes from several generations back, ....yes....it is possible....... but your next question should be, is it likely?? NO! you may as well play the lottery.........

You have gotten some good answers here. Yes is is technically possible but highly unlikely. People who breed for that sometimes have a hard time getting what they want,it sure is less likely if just breeding a random dog to a random dog. I have seen a BYB mutt show game but that's one dog out of many, many dogs and I doubt if I ever see it again in all honesty with a random mutt.
