What do you guys paint your concrete bowls with. Garner paints his with white epoxy, is there a certain kind that isn't toxic for the dogs to drink out of. I was gonna get some grey epoxy for garage floors but was concerned it was toxic. The ones I have now have little holes in them from air bubbles in the concrete when I made them and are hard to clean so figured painting them would take care of the holes and make it easier to clean

I put a stainless steel 8qt mixing bowl in mine and see no reason to paint them. Also I use mortar mix not concrete.

yeah thats what ive been thinking about doing, making a concrete stand for theyre metal food bowles, but still keep the food bawl removable... the concrete stand would prevent them from tipping theyre bowl...

Shit I got one that shit in his even if it's tall.

I just put a steel bowl upside down in a big rubber feed bucket and cover it in mortar. Tap the sides to get bubbles out. I dent my bowl so they don't spin. A few winters and the ice is gonna pop them bowls out anyway

Beton paint.. I'll look into it. Thanks keystone. I found some 10 qt stainless steel dog bowls I'm gonna use for mine but I'm making some for others without the stainless insert that need painted. If anybody needs any in or around Ohio I'm making them for $20 and $30 with the stainless bowl insert. They look similar to garners bowls

Got one here that does that to his water bowl and its sitting on two 8" concrete blocks side by side. I sat it on them mostly to keep the damn earthworms from crawling up in it and was hoping to that he couldnt reach it to shit in it. Stopped the worms but not him. Seriously been thinking about finding a toilet to sit out there and water him in it and see if he shits in it. If so when someone comes around and sees him doing it I'll tell them "Oh yeah I taught him that."

one thing to keep in mind, depending on your location. Those metal bowls can get super hot, i would keep them someplace where they are shaded during the day.

Those concrete bowls are pretty cool.. Unfortunately for me, they weathered to fast for the money up here in north Idaho. ...

For me I made a simple set up that is most cost, element, and bulldog effective .....

3 pallets, one 55 gal blue plastic drum, One galvenized bucket, 1/4 in screw hooks altered to keep bucket faceted to the house. 265 75 16 tire cut in 1/4 sections for the food bowl. I can insulate this from the wind with extra straw and snow works great to pack in around it. The tire cut out bowl doesnt matter if they chew it shake it destroy it, they're a dime a dozen and I have plenty.

I used to use them type of buckets but they fight and pull on them and spill out most their water. A concrete bowl they don't fight and can't tip, holds 2.5 gallons of water and cost me 2 or 3 bucks to make if I don't use the stainless insert. And in the winter when it freezes the bottoms pop out of those kinds of buckets. I use concrete bowls in spring summer and fall and in the winter rubber feed pans from tractor supply
