Just wondering if anybody knew of any online retailers that sell quality chain and hardware for nice prices? Buddy of mine just bought a new welding rig and I plan to put him to work! What grade are y'all running? I been using 5/16" 30 grade put plan on going to 43 because the 30 wears alot and needs replacing every other year ( more or less depending on certain dogs). Just wondering if any one had any online sources on drums or pails. I've found a few but wanted input if anyone here had dealt with any online supply companies they would recommend

I'd prefer grade 43, prefer something around 1-2 pounds per foot

Most of mine run between 28-40 pounds so I don't want the everyday chains to be too heavy. I got some old logging chains to use when I need a little weight

I go to the scrap/junk yards to get logging chain's. Foe penny's on the dollar. 20 foot 25, 30 foot ect. Obrien's is where I get my hard where.

Isn't grade 70 chain stronger than grade 43 without being terribly expensive? I say this based on what I have read here, not based on personal experience.

Yeah 70 is stronger than 43 grade. I went to Lowe's and got the 20 foot tow chain for 40 dollars. Have them cut it in half and when you get home take some plyers and remove the pins to get the tow hooks off. The chain is 70 grade 5/16 thick. It is a good bit cheaper to do it that way than to buy chain by the foot.

Think I pay about $2 a foot for 5/16 so it'd be about even. I'll double check and get back on that though
