I have owned a few over the years that will kill anything that gets close enough for the bulldog to grab it. I don't personally prefer a hound like that but some are just straight up killer's. The strangest hound I ever had was a female that was a good moma with her own puppies, yet if other puppies came into her area she would decapitate the pups. Literally. She would bite just there heads off. We are dealing with animals. I do personal prefer a bulldog that will play with pups. I love a hound that knows the difference between a challenge, or just play time dealing with a mature bulldog and a pup. Either way , I think it is best to keep a close eye own them, Let a pup be a pup. Knowing your hounds temperament is a good idea. Even then there are no guarantees when it comes to these bulldogs

Nothing worst than coming home and finding 1 loose and passed up every grow dog to kill the pups..that's was the worst site in the world to see...I call that a weak minded dog...
My idea of a good one won't be that insane...I've seen damn good dog tolerate a pup or litter for that matter and is what I prefer. ..not the "killer" has his place,,I just don't want that TYPE on my yard..
I believe they can be game without killing shot without purpose. ...

In not asking a dog to be human just have some damn sense.
Don't get me wrong I realize what type of dogs they are..over the years I've seen both kinds
and just don't like the crazy killer cujo type....

That's why you kennel pups until they are old enough to hold there own in that situation. Also if the dog is weak minded for getting loose and killing pups, what are we calling the owner who fault it is the dog got loose? These are combat dogs, if one doesn't want to run the risk of loosing a dog or pup, simply don't purchase or own one and problem solved.

Hats off Cajun if you never had 1 get loose....but to pass on a bulldawg to get his pup 6 spots or so down is weak.....as far as what we call the owner, you tell me? To each their own yard...I guess for me the good ones know when its time and the rest don't care...and I know what TYPE of dogs they are yet I still prefer a certain TYPE that's all...im not tripping if the next man wants the kill all bulldawg. Bamaman he was more than likely a cur....idk

I've had dogs get loose, but I've got enough sense to not have pups chained out with grown dogs. The yard is split fenced, grown on one side adolescent on another.... With pups under 6 months kenneled in separate area. So I'd call the owner that lost pups due to sheer stupidity a dumbass probably. I thought everyone had sense enough to make it where grown dogs couldn't come in to contact with young ones even after slipping the chain. You hope for the best but prepare for the worst. And don't blame something that could be avoided on the dog.....

Lol so your take is the dog was probably a cur because it didn't run into the dog you wanted it too?

Some people to close minded Caj.I would have still gave the dog a shot ,ya just never know. When you become to close minded ,I always felt you don't see what the blood as a whole is able to produce. They come in all different shapes ,sizes, colors and attitudes. You just never know.

All I am basically saying is ,it's a dog and no tellin what was on his mind, and Caj is right ,the situation should have never happened . if I thought enough about this young dog to feed him ,I surely would have gave him a shot to advance when the time came.

WTF Is going on around here? A bulldog is a bulldog. Some get along with curs and pups some kill anything on four legs. If it aint trying to kill people it knows then its all good. Who gives a shit if its wanting to grab pups, cats, curs, or anything with fur.

If you're keeping an inside dog, one that has better reasoning skills is nice. I feel my female is one that thinks about her actions and my male reacts to his instincts. Over the past two decades I've seen/owned all types and neither characteristic makes for a bad dog. Only bad dog is one that bites its people. Strangers are fair game in my eyes. These are dogs after all.

Did this place become the pitty mom's hang out Bunch of god damn nancy in here. many of you have no business with bulldogs.

Also if you think its a dumbass question how about finding a thread worth your while......

This post is you downing a dog that will grab pups. You're defending the pup cause the grown dog killing it hurts your feelings. You're a fucking nancy and you have no business in bulldogs with your sensitive feels.

Well the story came about after breeding some dogs and noticing some grown dogs were ok with the pups being around while noticing some didn't ...so over a few beers we started thinking about an incident in the past, where I pulled up over my partners house and the grow dog was killing his pup...that's how it all started....just making convo no disrespect ...at all
