I'm going to end up doing one on the ground out of wood and panels in the near future, similar to TG's. Not quite as nice obviously lol but similar style. But whether it's above ground or on the ground, IMO, there's no other way to go other than the horse panels. Night and day compared to the strength of the wire roll stuff.

Frame looks good ,just leave the wire you got and go on the other side with the heavier panel.Save you some time and effort ,just cut the panels to size.I wouldn't worry about a chain inside your kenñel ,if you got a strong enough kenñel you should be good.I would put a chain setup outside the kenñel or a nice cable run ,just to give him a change.

Ok, the fog house being close to your fence ,dog could jump on top of the house and sail over the fence pretty easy .Just shore up what you got and you should be good.imo

I would make sure there is no possible way the dog can dig out/climb out /break out and forget the chain. My thoughts are why build a dog run/pen and put him on a chain? If the dogs on the chain it doesn't need the run/pen in the first place kind of defeats the purpose of a run/pen in my opinion. Nice job looks good! Nice looking dog as well!

The flap also keeps the warmth inside the house more than no flap.

I'll give you 2 good reasons

    1. If you have more than one dog and you don't chain them inside the pen, you set yourself up for an accident every time you open the door to pick up shit or feed them. A chain keeps them inside of the kennel when you open that door.

    2. Added containment. If the dog digs or chews destructively then the chain will keep the dog where it should be in the event it digs a big ass hole while your at work or makes the decision to chew through the kennel, Which is very possible in this case.

It doesn't have to be a chain like you use in a normal set up, can be much thinner since the dog won't be slamming the end of it. I use a pretty small chain on one of mine in my run. helps a lot when I got one hand with a food dish in it and another on the door. I don't have to worry about her running out and smashing on her sister or one of the other mutts here.

I know it's not the clearest picture but you can see the size difference in the chain the bitch in the kennel is on compared to her sister who is in a regular chain spot.

Here's a little clearer picture of Ebola modeling the chain I use inside my run. lol She's a camera whore, what can I say. :D

As you can see, it's much thinner than the chain used on a normal chain spot. mostly because it's just meant to keep them inside the kennel when you open the door and not used to be the main form of containment. The Kennel is.

People seem to forget that it's our responsibility to take extra precautions with this breed. Kennels are good for keeping dogs confined but even better at not allowing strays to enter the danger zone. One accident is all it takes for someone's world to be turned upside down!
