The dog's title nor his abilities correlate to production. The sorriest no count piece of trash can have the ability to produce the next great dog. And the opposite is true as well. The greatest performer of all time may not be able to produce squat when bred to the very best things going.

Most end up somewhere in the middle. And the operative word being middle. Most dog will produce the average of its close family members. If the family is full of rank curs and one freak pops out. That freak will more than likely throw his family of curs. If the family is full of solid game dogs the odds of solid game dogs go up, not guaranteed, but the odds go up.

Other than bind luck, the only way to improve upon the dogs is thru selection. The desired traits have to be identified and then stacked. When you raise the bar, in time, that becomes your new norm, your new par. The idea is to improve upon that with each breeding.

In theory, the dogs of today should be hands down better than the dogs of yesteryear. But that is not the case at all. Few breedings today actually improve their family, much less improve the breed. Once upon a time it was about winning. Then it became about the notoriety of winning and then it became about the $$$ from winning and notoriety. The dogs have faded ever since.

I would've thought having the cognitive ability to develop a symbolic relationship would be considered higher intelligence. Science and time has proven that survival favors the lazy

Asking me or the one I got it from ? lol I have not seen the study yet, but, I believe, that's something to think about.
The creature of that last video shows that people are breeding the Down-Syndrome. At least, that's what it looks like.
The most aggressive guy I ever met and remember had the Down-Syndrome. On his good days he was just bumping the traffic lights, which he loved so much, and nobody cared ... but, you better did not disturb him, lol. So, what's normal ? :D
If the study says ALL dogs have it ... well, it's a breeding thing. A retarded breeding thing, lol.

The opposite to curs, so game that they do not care ... just retarded.

  12. Them studies can't be considerd true..
There is clearly no proof to suggest they are..
The domedicated dogs of all kinds, and the ferel dogs, are some of the most intelligent creatures in the world...
Did I read that right?.and it said we can share the same DNA?.....this is rubbish, and it seems who ever wrote it must consider the species CANIS, as a near human type beast that can't talk perhaps..

I'm not saying you can't get retard dogs..
Just saying it's seems highly likely that man noticed the dog was a genius of some sort that no other animal displayed in verious fields...the symbolic relationship between man and dog has existed for thousands up on thousands of years.with man breeding all kinds of traits in.one of them traits would of been the ability to listen and to conduct what the human hunter's told it so.the ability or intelligence to cordanate with man...

I'm under the impression dogs are very smart creatures as a hole...
    Ha,ha,smarter then most people!..more loyal then a woman.never tell on ya-never repeat what's said.

  14. But there's no other species that's so in tune with man then the dog..not even the Horse-wich comes a close second...
Maybe I'm totally wrong about dogs being intelligent?..or maybe the word intelligent is un appropriate..and I have to admit,it dose sound a shade athromophic,to explain a dog as intelligent when compared to humans...
It goes with out saying dogs are ranked as unintelligent compared to there human masters...but that still don't make the dog not intelligent-not by a long shot..to compere the intelligence levels with man and dog and come to the conclusion that a dog is not intelligent quite simply becuse of mans suppriority ...is a wrong judgment of the species CANIS.....science has helped solve a lot of things dogs..but it's unwise for scientists to try and work out demestication with science...

Intelligence is relative. Dogs have shown to be able to understand our language yet we dont for certain understand theirs. They teach us to understand their body language in order to convey to us their desires and moods. But we dont truly know what their saying when they bark. Now I'm not saying they truly know human language the way we do but they understand us way better than we understand them

  16. Good way of putting things...
Maybe(surely)older civilisation new more of the ways of dogs then modern civilisation...
It goes with out saying that dogs were needed a lot more by the older civilisation..as aposed to today.
And I suspect that man had a lot more time back then to wonder and observe.

But how did he domedicate dogs???
Its a timeless question what will never be answered with any certanty I'm affaid.
But his observation and his patience certainly had something to do with it I think..

Even tho it's been known though-out history that man is superior to the dog....it's quite clear he bred so many traits into the dog that today some dogs are superior to man him self!...

As you say...do we really no what he's saying when he barks?....

My answer to that is no...but he sure seems frustrated as if to say "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME BOSS?"......

Too many called cold are dogs that havent started yet. Some may say its the same thing but its not. A truly cold dog will never start. Rare though they are, they do exist. But we too quick to label every dog that wont fight back a cold dog. Id maybe say it was a cold dog if it is rip now anever came on but until it leaves this mortal realm I prefer to say it hasnt started yet.
On whether all cold dogs produce, I dont know, but do believe its like people using the cur that produced as a reason to breed to their own cur. Dont justify. Just do it if you want to. Especially if you keepung everything. But just dont justify your decision to anyone else, because it will sound like what it most likely is, an excuse.

I agree about what you said about cold dogs and dogs that just haven't started yet. People today have very little patience with their dogs. Also, som dogs can start at a pretty young age. But at (for un example) 4 years of age they start FOR REAL! This have happened to me and I'm very happy I didn't culled them early.
