They have a dog aggressive bull breed and you advice is he needs training....the truth is if you let bulldogs near other dogs the your an a***hole. Because most wont sit and play.

the worst advice is to NOT train your dog.

Tough dogs bred for multiple generations for hard life of security/mil/LE..to not fear humans, but to track, run down and dominate human targets on command…yet somehow can navigate through a crowd of people safely under the control of their handler. WHY?

it’s called training. no reason a bull breed, bulldog, bully, American pit bull terrier, bull terrier, game dog, game bred, can’t be trained in “kindergarten” basics to sit (and stfu) at a sensible distance from other dogs in public and be an obedient house dog. of course this process would be progressively more difficult the longer the dog was neglected, undisciplined, unsocialized etc. maybe impossible in some cases depending on how much the dog was ruined by his owner.

Me, myself and I can raise ANY young and bred true APBT pup, <3 months let’s say (well before she’s ruined by some clown), regardless of breeding, drive..and guarantee with near certainty I can train the dog into a well behaved adult that can be brought out in public.

    this isn’t nuclear physics.

Then it is my opinion my friend that you are in for a nasty suprise one day. Because sometimes certain lines of combat bred dogs for other creatures (apbt.sbt.wheaten terrier) just don’t like other dogs and no command is going to stop them trying to do what they want. Also not everyone is a world class trainer and over the Internet caution is the best advice I’ve never seen anyone get hurt from being overly cautious around animals.

Dog aggression, human aggression, social aggression are not breed specific. Much of it the same regardless of breed. Combat/game bred dogs like the APBT aren’t necessarily dog reactive either. No, not simple. Yes, caution first. For novices and experts alike - training, bonding with your dog goes far in understanding behaviors, triggers, your own strengths and limitations...and limiting nasty surprises.

I get what you are saying. I'm not debating anything. Just want the OP to know that GENETICS cannot be trained out and to manage it accordingly.

How’s it going? Do you have a breakstick yet my friend? Also sometimes called a parting stick? I know others have recommended this to you, also search online and on YouTube how to use it properly and always keep one at home and wherever you go with your dog.
I also suggest a lot of exercise friend. A spring pole setup at home would be great for your dog. Maybe a mill as well if you can get one as this would make running your dog easier on you and safer for other dogs.
Don’t let your dog off leash in public areas. If you want to let the dog off leash outside your property, to play fetch for example, only do it within fenced off areas where you know the dog will not be able to get another dog or animal.
Very common for Amstaffs to be dog and animal aggressive, don’t worry about trying to change it. Just be responsible and enjoy your dog.

This is a breakstick. It is used to pry open a dogs jaws when it has a hold. Insert the pointy end behind the dogs back teeth and twist your wrist.
Please watch a YouTube video for a demonstration.
