I first got told he was off jake ( klogger x mayfield ) then years later from ch billy or his son ... he defo had that reid look and the few litters i bred off mine to inbred red strain he was dominant in them with the brindle , look , etc

 

They didnt know as he came from a puppy peddlar but the strange thing was on his kc papers it was from a fella that had klogger at one time

 

Jake was highly thought of by his owner mate, only dog he ever talked about.

An old Ed Reid collar if I'm not mistaken.

 

Did get told yesterday that the woman got a few dogs off northern lad so maybe he was down from billy or jake ? How would you say he looks to be bred @oldguy mate ?

 

All I see is Skipper mate, not because I'm Skipper blind, but it's fact he just spat them out like clones and his genes were 100% pre-potent.. If your dog was 12.5%, 6.25% or even 3.125% Northern Lad's Billy or any other Skipper offspring, then it would have showed through in his siblings and offspring.. Look at GR.CH. Barney and tell me I'm wrong? Every day I see dogs in town that's bona fide clones of Scotsman's Max, bred down from the stuff we bred in 1990, kept as pets, crossed with Spaniels, Staffs and Labradors and still today you'd swear the fat mutt, tied up outside the local store was bought direct off Ed Reid's yard, that's how potent the Kingfish blood was mate, just wiped everything else out.. Not saying the reds and buckskin phenotype never turned up sometimes, because it did, but I'd lay any money down on the table that if I'd got pups off Archie who was red, then regardless of what female he got bred to the majority of the litter would be brindle..

We bred Black Max to a (brindle) double bred daughter of Skipper and the majority of that litter was brindle.. Kelly's Sid (black) sired by CH.Elmo (black) and out of CH.Sheena Black (black) was bred Sid to a black female off the Black Max x Tamsin litter called Molly Black and the majority of that litter was brindle.. The Skipper blood is beyond potent mate.

Reading back through this thread I see it stated 'GR.CH.Bill couldn't really be considered a Reid dog because he was a mix of different strains; Well his sire was born on Ed Reid's yard and although on paper (even appearance) people could draw their own conclusions whether Bill qualified as a Reid dog? When it came to seeing Bill in the flesh, the Reid just ripped out of him.. He was the most powerful dog I ever saw, he could breath under water and I seen him (A DOG) outsmart the best handlers in the UK, made monkeys out of them! Bill's intelligence was off the scale, that's a fact and it's a Skipper trait!

If we was talking about Reid coming through Wise, Al Capone and Texas Minnie dogs, then discussing, or generalising over it might become more difficult, but them Skipper dogs just scream at you, 10 generations later they still show up on you, you just can't miss them!
