Yes, he was fired but not convicted. Eric Garner's family got some pay out from that.

I doubt the officer had 5.9 million.

The NY tax payers footed that bill.

The officer lost his job but did not do time.

I think that will play out with Mr. Floyd as well.

The officer's wife filed for divorce. That legal action will take place first and then be binding. From there he can be pursued in a wrongful death suit and pretty much have nothing to offer but a judgement. That will in turn be put on the taxpayers pf Minneapolis as well as Minnesota.

John Q. Public taxpayer will cover the original looting/arson, then he will cover the 2nd wave of riots when there is no justice, and then he will cover the wrongful death suit.

And, to be very crude, (and apologetic) six months from now only the family of Mr. Floyd will know the difference between George Floyd and Pink Floyd.

I have been informed I am 'insensitive to the cause' and since I do not 'publicly stand up and protest that means I am a racist, maybe in the closet, but a racist the same'.

I disagree. I am much, much worse than a racist. I am apathetic. I simply have a different set of priorities.

I'm over 50. Every thirty days I work anywhere from 18-22 12 hour shifts.....days, nights, weekends and holidays. I have mortgage and an electric bill due every month, along with a truck payment. I have a 24 year old son who sometimes I think is going on 12. I have a wife who puts in as many hours as I do. Every month I have to buy a couple cases of chicken backs, a case of cow cheek and several bags of dog food which in turn means I have a lot of shit to clean up, even after the 12 hour shift that normally turn into 13-14 hour shifts. I think they call me a working stiff.

I don't believe in abortion as it is a sin. But more importantly I do not believe I have the right, nor does anyone else have the right to cast a vote to tell a woman what she can and/or can not do to her body. Period.

I believe homosexuality is a sin as well. But again I do not have the right to cast a vote, nor does anyone else. to tell someone else how to live their life.

I don't drink anymore. I don't do drugs. But really could give two shits what someone else chooses to do.

I believe racism is wrong and racial injustice has plagued our country and the world since the dawn of time. If I am standing right there at the moment of injustice I will act upon what I think is right. I will do it and I have done it.

With all that babbling, I admit I am apathetic to just about every cause, every hot topic and every pushed button. I am not going to stand up against any cause but I am not going to march in the parade either.

I'm going to pull the night shift, come home to take care of what I can, sleep, get up and do it all over again.

Now when I get my house paid for, my kid raised, the wife pleased and the retirement within reach I may take the time to get on board with the cause, whatever it happens to be at that time.

Regardless of severity I will never see myself breaking windows, stealing merchandise or burning a building for any cause.

And when that person who is using the protest/the cause as a means to loot, steal and burn gets holes knocked in him as someone defends for what is rightfully theirs, again, I will not march in that parade but I doubt I do any mourning as he/she lay on the sidewalk.

I'm much worse. I'm apathetic and apathy is a terrible thing.

    Just a rant.

Now add to all that the stress of being targeted for the color of you skin. You dont do anything that plenty of black folks dont every day but you dont fear of not making it home from work. Your son can afford to be 24 and act 12. You didnt mention having to talk to him about how not to get killed by the police simply for being black.

FFS slim! I must be apathetic too coz I agree with 99% of what you said! Always thought politically I was closer to the open end of a horse shoe, somewhere between Communism and Fascism but every day a school day on here haha! One of the things I like about dogs is different types of characters who own them, every colour, personality and political persuasion (apathetic included) it rarely descends into physical confrontation (human kind anyway) and we even manage to get along now and then.. #:-SIronic really! There's Protests in London today supporting George Flloyd, a man who got murdered thousands of miles away across the ocean, but I never heard a peep or saw anything more than broken hearted families bury their own when Sheku Bayoh, Jean Charles De Menezes, Mark Duggan and the young boy in the shop mentioned earlier got murdered by UK police.. I mean not one fckn peep!

All this racism is so ingrained in us history its incredible,i was doing some research earlier on a certain area of philly, because there was a famous gym there ,which in the 60s and 70s was a total conveyor belt of talent, among a stack of other great talent joe frazier was the gyms most famous student.Typed in columbia avenue, north philly and fuck me o'reilly, its all over there about famous race riots that took place there in 68 or 69,not sure without re-checking,caused by police brutality. As somebody in the uk looking in,finding something like that purely by coincidence,no wonder people are rioting.Absolutely fuck all has changed it seems.
