Once you've got that percentage do you breed best to best or do you keep breeding fresh 3/4 crosses?

All dogs that I use for breeding has worked on wild boar in my own hands. I don't care if they are APBT, PT or what ever, I breed them for working. But my best male is a Patterdale Terrier, also my best female. My second best male was a 50% PT X APBT cross and I bred him to my best PT female, so I got the 75% PT X 25% APBT cross now.

Why do you prefer the Patterdale and Patt x Bull instead of pure APBT for Boar work?

Do you have a problem with your patts going to ground snake? They look a little big for that kind of work compared to some of the others ive seen

In my area we have deep undergrowth, so I need some smaller dogs. I know there are some APBTs who have nearly the same weight like my PTs or my mixes, but PTs have a higher percentage of good nose and prey drive. It isn't important for me if it is a PT or an APBT or a cross, I am breeding that individuals who are the best workers in my eyes.

I have not much earthwork for my dogs. Only 2 or 5 badger sets in one season. My PTs are bigger than the standard, but they are able to work on badger below. For fox I use my smaller females. The PT X APBT crosses only work on wild boar.
