Picture was from 2017 when we dug to The Machine for the last time that season. Standing in a 12ft hole with a little more to dig before we break into the tube. Was a nice draw on this dig.

My apologies I didn’t pose the question clearly Since I would consider digging for things vermin eradication I was wondering do u keep track of the catch weights of said vermin like . Weight comparison between catcher and vermin and if so what is the biggest difference like 15lb catcher..20lb vermin and so forth

Only when they are 20lbs and above or it was something we don't dig regular.

Cool how do u rate working dogs .time spent or actual catch amount or size of the vermin . I'm pretty sure a bigger the vermin longer it takes to get out no ? The only hunts I've seen we're on YouTube

Terriers have a rating system not sure how it follows exactly i no they have points to 100. For a Field Champion and Master Earth Terrier. Its all done by American Fell Terrier International Registery. They have a face book page to get a hold of the owner. I do no you have to dig 3 pieces of game with the same terrier as well as locate them. For your field Champion certificate on that terrier.

Im meaning more or less how u pick a dog worthy of breeding just cause they catch don't mean there's not better or there good in the first place? . I.e more drive .more wanting to finish the vermin .like is a dog that would catch til it dropped better then a dog . that would come back out the hole

I have found out that everyone has different standards of what they like and most kennels i have been to they have a wide range of terriers with in the spectrum of Bayer, Smart Hard, and Hard. I have 5 different kennels on a hunt in the Earth Digging never seen one back out always stayed till dug. I choose a smart hard terrier, some will say that they have never seen one in all the years they have bred Earth dogs. Thats because they don't know what they are looking for and its easier to breed hard terriers. I like a good Bayer as well when i was on a few deep ones and the collar died i was still able to make it to the terrier and game no problem.
