I love it some of the stories are so crazy,but its a lot of fun.Sometimes they talk about stuff that will shock you as well.

 

I agree...my husband used to listen to it when he worked at night. He'd tell me some pretty heavy stuff. The times I've listened to it its been entertaining. Some real eccentric people call in.

 

Actually, I have an old 0 -30000mghz jvc transciever. No antennae any more . I've been looking for this place called coopers to get me a mako 5/8 wave and like two more. I want to get back in it. I used to pick up skips with my cb Ny to ohio & Ga. (I know that sounds crazy). I also picked up radio grenada crystal clear while in ny too. The way things going, we gonna need all the hams we can get.

 

Not into it that big,butwant to learn more.From what I learn so far,you can pick up and talk to people on the other side of the world.

 

Yes, line of site, including the space shuttle, when they transmit for hams. Am goes further, but has trouble penetrating dense objects. IE: trees, building tunnels. Fm is clearer, penetrates better, but distant is greatly limited. You have to rely heavily on repeaters. (TOWERS)
You also need a license, call sign and cursory morse code knowledge.
