I have noticed that, even among real performance bred (and tested) game dogs the most athletic and pound for pound best performers are taller and lankier. My current pup is more slender than even a Hammonds dog and is the best athlete I have ever owned, even at just 5 months.

Lol if a 5 mo pup is the best athlete you ever owned that ain't saying much about them dogs.

Seriously , all you can say about a pup is I got high hopes for it and everything is is just wasted words man because it's a pup . Now if you want to say they acting good that's OK but seriously everything else is bullshit.

This dog amazes me every day. It is true I have only owned 5 dogs, but I have not seen anything like her at such an age. I am comparing her to the other pups I have had. I've seen grown dogs do some of the things she can, never such a young pup. She is also the biggest pain in the ass I have ever owned, by far.

Now does this mean she is going to be some great match dog some day, of course not. She could well be a soft mouthed cur. I just have just never seen such a young dog so athletic with such high drive. The son of 4W Crazy legs I had and the son of Haunch I had were not even close in terms of raw athletic ability.

For example, I know you are not supposed to let a young pup get too far in the air while working a flirt pole... she literally gets a full 3-4 feet off the ground if I make a mistake and get the pole too high.

I am comparing her to human athletes, which I DO have a lot of experience with. It is like a 9 year old being able to dunk a basketball.

I never really had any hopes for her. But I probably will end up looking at her when she gets older. If I don't lose my temper and ruin her, she is a PITA. You have experience w/ kids and football. Imagine a 10 year old running a 4.5.

But back to my main point: People think these overly muscled dogs....and I am not talking about the complete garbage posted in this thread, but some of the bullies that are still able to get out of their own way...dogs that look like bodybuilders. Generally these dogs are not that athletic. IMO some of the most athletic dogs I have seen are lightly built, not really all that muscular at all. I always use the Hammonds dogs as an example, taller lankier dogs.

It would blow your mind at what some big dogs can do.

Oh yeah...I have always been a guy who loves bigger dogs. When you only own 1 or 2 its easy...and I was a powwelifter/bodybuilder and fairly lean at 228 lbs. Now I am a frail old man and prefer the smaller dogs. My first dog, a female was 67 lbs and gave me a 75 lb dog. My other 2 were also mid 60's. This damn bitch I have right now still likes to piss on the f'en floor right in front of me on the daily. I have to snatch her up and try and get her outside. Fortunately she is on the small side. I swear to God I want to strangle her sometimes. If she are big I probably could not handle her.

Now now....are you not the man who hates pups? I swear to God you would absolutely hate the one I have, and she is brindle too. =))

And I don't know anyone who likes puppies besides the ladies. It's usually the trade off for dogs. They get puppies so you can get dogs.

I used to like puppies until this one....my hands are all marked up from her biting and last puppy teeth, and she STILL pisses on the floor. Even my wife is fed up with her. Like I posted, she is real athletic and good acting but I have had it with her. She is spending more and more time outside. Hoping she settles down soon. She was just going to be a pet, but I am going to test here ass hard when she gets older.
